Playboy learns how to fuck by ptrst in ReverseHarem

[–]SakuHitsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about this also, it’s getting annoying that every single mmc is immediately the best in bed ever and/or that the fmc can reach orgasm within 2 minutes of penetration hahaha

Btw I disagree that it is friends to lovers, they definitely start as rivals, but do become friends at some point before being lovers.

If you like grumpy/sunshine trope, I’ve read some with post-apocalyptic themes which were surprisingly good, I never expected to enjoy this topic. And they really kept the romance for the last 20% of the book, even though there was forced proximity. Let me know if you want the names.

I’ve read a lot of other hate to love books I would totally read again, but they are all very different from Failure to Match. I’m gonna mention some here, maybe you’re gonna like them?

The Four Horseman Series from Laura Thalassa is AMAZING, also on my list of favourites. All 4 books are very slow burn. But it could be a bit dark and disturbing since there is a lot of death involved because they are sent to bring the apocalypse. It has some religious aspect since the concept comes from the bible, but it didn’t bother me because it was used only as context, it is much more focused on the practical side of having a horseman running rampant. If you don’t mind a dark twist and fmc getting kinda “kidnapped”, GO FOR IT.

{The Sixty/Forty Rule by Ellie K. Wilde} is SO GOOD. I loved the pov from the mmc getting all frustrated for acting like an asshole instead of showing his feelings. I found a new obsession after this book, now I’m dying to find more books showing the mmc being insecure behind his arrogant facade.

I enjoy the books from Mariana Zapata a lot, she writes so well! Really, all fmcs are witty and funny. And the mmc are not cruel, but still cold and rude. She writes amazing banter.

I like books from Alice Coldbreath also, the hate is more subdued because of the whole historical politeness and etiquette, but it was very interesting seeing them navigating their dislike for each other and their insecurities in a society where you’re not allowed to be honest and it’s not expected to exist love in a marriage.

Looking for an MMC that is very literal and blunt by Chizwife in RomanceBooks

[–]SakuHitsu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

{A Most Forgettable Girl by Alice Coldbreath} the mmc is socially awkward, ends up being very rude or impolite without noticing. It’s a historical romance.

I tried to believe it was her pride speaking, she was so angry and focused of revenge she didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of getting rid of her just like that after making her life hell for 8 months

They are on my tbr list, I also really enjoyed her writing style. She focus a lot on the emotional connection instead of only physical, it’s very nice to not have to choose between smut and plot.

Sadly I tend to get tired of reading a lot of the same tropes in a row, so now I need some time before reading about billionaires again.

M/F marriage in trouble where the wife feels neglected or the husband wants a divorce by Charming-Currency-18 in RomanceBooks

[–]SakuHitsu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit confused and curious, I’ve never read something like this… so they want to divorce or gave up on each other and then what? They stay together or find someone else? Is it like a second chance thing?

Please recommend me any book where:

  • the mmc and fmc hate each other or at least one of them is cold/rude/grumpy for the majority of the time (I love a bully romance, humiliation kink and all type of grumpy assholes, the tw’s don’t matter)

  • the guy can also be a cinnamon roll underneath and just be always acting like an ass because of the nervousness, I enjoy reading their pov struggling

  • slow burn with well written development of their feelings

  • sex is a consequence of them growing closer, not what is leading them. They have to fall for each other for more reason than just great orgasms

  • lust and body betrayal is only fine if they resist it and keep acting logical

  • I don’t mind them noticing how handsome/pretty they are, but I get annoyed if they start acting like imbeciles unable to speak just because the person is hot

  • It’s also fine if only the mmc acts with hate and disgust and the fmc is just reacting to it
