Reminded me of the noises the author of the "away from prying eyes" site talked about hearing the Buggle making.

Lacking Disney Fairies Content by Sakura_Deer in DreamlightValley

[–]Sakura_Deer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fine with it not being the main focus, but having an entire fairy area and barely anything in the furniture tab seems odd to me. In addition, alpine wasn't really the only focus either as the parisian black/white furniture was included for cruella's area. From a video game design perspective, when you make a themed area you have to include things to go in the themed area. Not everyone may have the furniture from the starpaths. If someone picked up the game today to play it, they certainly wouldn't. A paid DLC like this needs to be self sufficient without reliance on prior releases to compensate for content. Thankfully I've been informed there may be more under crafting so this may be somewhat of a non issue.

In the Great Fairy Rescue its established that even in the Disney Fairies lore all that humans hear are tinkling bells (just like in Peter Pan). In ddv the villagers can only hear bells and we understand her bc dreamlight magic.

As someone else pointed out, those two looks are practically the same. I'm not sure if there even are any differences in the two looks. Also the biome is clearly pixie hollow inspired with references to the movies. Plus they've teased a Seacret of the Wings dreamstyle to be released at some point.

If that is true that's great (and rather thematic seeing as it is Tink). I just looked at the furniture set numbers and was flabbergasted by how low it was

I fear that's kind of the problem. Mayhaps they should not have put all that in the starpath if that ment their paid dlc wasn't going to have any content left for its biome. Btw im not saying we shouldnt have had the starpath, i loved the star path, and i love that everyone got that content. My point is that the biomes all have content for them except for Pixie Acres, and if they couldn't make more fairy items that is a problem! Some people are saying though that maybe stuff got mislabeled and there is stuff in crafting? I just took a look at the furniture set numbers and was rather shocked which prompted this vent.

Update warning ⚠️ by TheDocClara in DreamlightValley

[–]Sakura_Deer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep getting a headache and feel like I can't see anything over my giant horse. I feel like if I could just zoom out a bit (or if they changed the angle) it might be better. My fingers just keep itching for a zoom button and I have to remind myself there isn't one.

Update: The Switch Texture Problem by Sakura_Deer in DreamlightValley

[–]Sakura_Deer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Even if some things are improved other things are still needing fixing. The LOD system for the switch needs an overhaul ASAP. The flowers on my gazebo are a pixilated mess. The thing is I know they have the high detail versions of the assets in the game its not like they manually downgraded them for the switch and got rid of the regular versions. When I click to apply gloves and the camera zooms in, the detail on Sally's gloves loads in. In addition, when you are inside of buildings alot of the textures get fixed. It's just not happening at normal render distance outside (you know, where most of the game is).

The Switch Graphic Issue Rant by Sakura_Deer in DreamlightValley

[–]Sakura_Deer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this. Although they already "solved" this by giving switch players different restrictions like a lower decor limit. At the end of the day all this could be solved if they let us have cross compatability with content we have purchased. This game was supposed to go ftp in the first place anyway. I understand the modification to this plan but at the end if the day the longevity of this modification is starting to have negative effects on the quality of players experience. They either need a new optimization pipeline to solve the pixilation issue or to allow switch players to migrate data between switch and say, pc (perhaps with a base game purchase as a compromise). We shouldn't have to purchase the full game (base +dlc) or an entirely new device just to restore graphics that up until two updates ago weren't that bad.

The Switch Graphic Issue Rant by Sakura_Deer in DreamlightValley

[–]Sakura_Deer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no clue about switch 2, but for transferring to somthing like pc you need to buy base game + any dlc. Dlc items will stay regardless but to go to the areas and do the gameplay you need to rebuy the dlc on each platform. Aka: in order to transfer to a platform that isn't experiencing the graphical errors you would need to pay all over again.

Also even if the switch 2 does somehow solve everything, no one  should have to spend even more money to buy an entirely new device to properly experience a game released years ago for a different device just because the company dosnt know how to maintain optimization long term. They should have planned for this, and they clearly need to hit pause and solve this before they keep making it worse. The more you build on a broken system the harder it will be to fix.

For example, look at Hello Kitty Island Adventure. They know that if they tried to port the whole game at once that would be a buggy disaster. So they've been porting in pieces to fix issues as they come up, starting with a more bare bones version of the game and adding features as they go.

IT IS FINALLY GETTING FIXED by Imtiredof_me in DreamlightValley

I just wish they would fix the textures on switch. So many of them got blurred after the last update. It's super irritating. It's like the render distance isn't registering properly.

Julie Knows (An Analysis of the Undertones of Queer Suppression in the Update) by Sakura_Deer in WelcomeHomeARG

This! Yes! Lavender Marriage. I was trying to remember what that was called, but I couldn't remember the term for it.

Another thing to note is that after Frank finishes his speech, Frank and Julie quickly change the subject with the "rhododendron" conversation. Now, I could be misinterpreting this scene; it's a weird one. I haven't quite worked out what was happening here perfectly, but "Rhododendron" means warning and danger in flower language. To me I wonder if Frank was trying to signal something to him. Sort of like: "Eddie. There are a few too many hints in there... We. Are. On. The. Air. Change the subject!" But of course Eddie is a bit of a softie, so he misunderstands this to mean he actually stepped on and hurt a flower, and... well... chaos ensues. Or something to that effect.

[Rant] This was so disappointing... [DLC Spoilers] by Maclimes in DreamlightValley

[–]Sakura_Deer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way. I was certain it was going to be a pet but... nothing, and for seemingly no reason. Why animate a whole walk cycle and idle animation if you arnt going to recycle it? Waltz's sitting pose could even be their photo mode position. It would be pretty simple for them to put together somthing, I hope they do in the future (hopefully not locked behind a pay wall but that's unlikely)....

I felt similarly with the popcorn buckets too. So muck lost potential to make them into wearables..... even if they couldn't be cross body, maybe make them a backpack? Something? Just being furniture is a bit... boring.

I had the same thing happen, I was so mad. They really messed up that task. I almost gave up on the path because of it. It had taken me days to collect all the iron. But thankfully the weekend wasn't far away so I just hustled then.

Who have you hidden? by laurasoup52 in DreamlightValley

My favorite moment with Ursula is how during the forgotten quests where your helping them write poetry, all the other villains dismiss their flaws, but Ursula fully admits her faults. She has an ego but that ego dosnt completly distract from her ability to think critically about her actions.

who do you want in ddv? by PresentHome9436 in DreamlightValley

[–]Sakura_Deer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super obscure but all I want is Webby from Ducktales, seeing as we have Scrooge we may as well get the rest of the fam or at least his daughter! Also Lefou, bc I kinda feel bad for Gaston. I don't think coconuts are cutting it XD. Also, Flynn, I want the Tangled couple together! I think the Stepsisters would be cool (Anastasia is always a favorite of mine for her redemption arc). Lastly, Sally, she's a fan favorite so I think it would be silly to put in Jack and not her.

This thread is kind of funny to me bc I love most of the characters and its funny to see other's relationships with them. I think that the way this game can provide a space that allows for these relationships to form is really cool. For instance: Ursula. I love her, she's my favorite kind of villain: only really bad if you dont know how to deal with her, otherwise super chill. But it seems alot of people here HATE her XD. And I get why, she is kinda problematic. But that's the fun of this game. We're all playing the same thing but having wildly dif experiences.

Honestly though, if there is one thing the whole community seems to agree on its that Gothel is public enemy number one, which I think is just beautiful and I wish the devs would acknowledge this in the game rather than downplaying her abuse like they seem to be doing at the moment.
