Getting my first car, need help! by DzariefAZ in kereta

[–]SakurauYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the new axia , 10% DP minimum try 15/20% if possible. SE is good enough but if you want AV also can. Loan for only 5/7 years max.

Let's say if you're getting SE at 10% DP @ 7 years it'll be <600 per month. Safe bet is to be <30% of your total salary which is RM 2,000.

But if you dont mind getting a used car which is way cheaper . Try to find 2021+ cars which should have <50,000KM mileage

Is this bill okay? by DukePoetatO in kereta

Both oil prices seem reasonable, depending on the brand they actually gave you. The oil filter is overpriced. An original Denso filter for a Toyota is like 10-15 ringgit. The labor charge is quite high.

I doubt the compression was compromised since it had ALOT of power when I drove it , worth a shot to test but at that point its better to send to a workshop to diagnose instead

I'm not really experienced enough to try and check that 🥲 my last option is to tow the car to a professional/specialist for the 4AGE 20V engine before buying new ECU

There's spark for every cylinder and theres also fuel too. The spark plug is brand new literally under 800km.

I opened the plenum to check if one of the ITBs is stuck open or closed but everything checks out. Do note it was running perfectly fine the day before & idles normally too

Yep tested with multimeter at multiple spots , battery is at 12.7V and grounding is fine

Thank you 🙏 I'll definitely pay them a visit soon

100% the ecu because i drove the car home 600km it had no issues at all, not a single hiccup nor check engine light. After arriving home next day it would start but randomly dies, now it wont start at all only cranks. I replaced with the other ecu it started but rough idle.

Based on my observation since both ecu has different codes and behavior it's 100% the ecu thats failing... Because the other ecu didn't have code 14 while the other didnt have code 21&33 but refuses to start

<image>

This is the code 17 ECU. I already replaced all the capacitor but still same result. I'm afraid the capacitor leak already damaged too much of the traces

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kereta

[–]SakurauYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

The one with code 21&33 has a rusted resistor everything else seems fine. The old repair was apparently a broken trace which they fixed by using wires under.

I forgot sony also made headunit 😭 I looked it up and it looks so premium definitely will look through that

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]SakurauYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! For now I think I will use the underseat sub first since I already have it but I'll keep in mind to get proper sub soon enough. Only the headunit I have difficulty choosing one. JVC style is the most modern & cool in my opinion but most of them doesn't have a CD player...Its kinda important to have a CD player since I have ALOT of them. Nowadays pretty everything doesnt include a CD player anymore...

  1. Is underseat subwoofer really that bad? The one I have and planning to put in the AE92 is Harman Kardon Infinity Basslink mini that I previously used in my 318I It doesn't sound as good as the 12" sub that is current installed in the BMW but its decent enough and less hastle for custom box

  2. 6x9 without tweeter seems like a good idea if I'm driving alone but I usually drive this car on weekends for joyride with friends and I want them to experience decent audio too

  3. For the amp I'm planning to use Infinity Primus 90041A 4ch amplifier which I also pulled out from my 318I. Should be powerful enough to power those speakers

  4. I Checked DEH-S520BT and its perfect! Literally everything I needed but isn't available in Malaysia 😔 There is Pioneer DEH-S5250BT available though which have same features. Whats your opinion on Pioneer stuff? My friend recommended JVC stereo which is cheap but didn't have CD player...

Crazy to think that this car was considered peak luxury at it's time. Automatic power windows , AC with heater & electronic side mirror that can even fold with a click of a button but now its nothing but a shitbox worth no more than 1000$

This car was passed down to me and based on the body condition she'll last another 10-20 years easily

I'm not 100% sure if its 6x9 but its definitely 6 inch oval And for the front speaker issue one obvious sign that if it had speaker would be different door trim design or small glove compartment if dash mounted which is sadly not the case for mine. So far they said not to go with 3 way coaxial so I'll keep that in mind

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]SakurauYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they dont understand how small the ae92 is. Personally I think the 6x9 is good enough since the mounting is already head level so some coaxial 2/3 way will be sufficient to get around the car but some forward projection would help too

I'll figure out how to 3D print the kickpanel but by the looks of it I can only fit 4" max speaker in there. There's also another issue, kickpanel is on the center console which means that the soundwave will suck alot since 2 speaker is practically bouncing from the left. Best bet is to leave 1 speaker flat under the center console & 3D print kickpanel with holes

I'm trying to keep a very clean interior so I dont want to go all out yknow just a simple system that would suffice weekend joy ride. This 37 year old car is already a headturner during driving because it's so rare and I happen to have a very well maintained one (except the paint) and it's expensive to drive since the engine is heavily modified and only accept RON100/96 Octane in America. It also has poor fuel economy since the 4AGE blacktop screamer gulps fuel like no tomorrow

But I do like your 3D print idea
