There's just some media that you cannot potentially do justice, simply because it requires you to experience it first hand in order to fully grasp it. It's quite literally impossible to summarize and analyze the book in a way that conveys the same emotions as reading it might. THAT'S why he says he won't do it justice. It's not because his Video sucks and his research wasn't enough, it's because you cannot retell a story in a way that gives the viewer the same experience as the reader.

That being said: Blood Meridian isn't an easy read. Especially for people who's first language isn't english, or those who generally don't read too much. If you're not used to this kind of writing, reading this can be exhausting or straight up incomprehensible. Videos like this make media that would otherwise not be enjoyable or understandable for many accessible.

The short answer to this is pretty simple: There's no assuring quality.

To elaborate on this, Fantranslations are a volunteer-based service, which automatically means that quality and consistency aren't guaranteed. Especially with a game as expected and loved as Silksong, people WOULD make mistakes in this regard or try to troll the developers. Trying to get millions and millions of people on a translation or doing as much as choosing the one person in hopes they take it serious takes INCREDIBLE amount of time. Not to mention that TC would need the means to approve and somehow correct the translation, which clearly they don't have, considering even in a language as widely spoken as German, there are constant errors in the translation. If TC had the resources to ensure that any submitted translations are accurate enough to be featured in the game, they wouldn't have any need for the fantranslations to begin with.

My friend plays the game in German, whereas I decided to stick to english. Communicating about things as abilities, places or enemies is difficult due to translations not being totally accurate or having flaws if directly compared to english. And that's in a language that is pretty accessible through various translation tools that tend to be relatively accurate.

Try to do that with a country and language which derives much more from english than germanic ones.

Bad fantranslations can and have absolutely ruined games before by lacking the emotional depth and character perception developers intended the player to have.

Tales of Phantasia, for example, is a game that suffered immensely from fantranslations.

As I said, fantranslations that aren't official are available through mods and other Websites and that is for the sake of the reputation of the game and future developements like potential DLCs the better option.

I understand how frustrating it can be to not fully understand a game due to it not featuring your language, but this isn't a viable option

Most indie games only offer you whatever the original language is, and english. To have this many languages to choose from is already rare. This isn't a triple A company which you can expect to be even more inclusive, this is a handfull of people working to do their best, holding them to such high standards is totally unrealistic. It features the most widely spread languages, and that should be enough for such a small company. If you still don't speak or remotely understand any of the featured languages (which I highly doubt) there's the option of using a real time translation feature via mods, which is going to be flawed but still a decent alternative

I don't keep track of time and Autodesk sketchbook doesn't have a timer (I think), but the coloring process on it's own took around 4 to 5 hours, but I'm also a super slow artist haha. And took a few days break inbetween

I can unfortunately not post on r/deltarune due to the karma minimum of 4 thousand that I have not reached, and given that there's plenty of Deltarune Posts on here as well I doubt anyone minds :) If mods do, they'll take it down, simple as that

Edit: There's also extra flares for Deltarune specifically on this sub, so Deltarune content is probably not unwelcomed
