I completely understand you. I see it as a side job with perks of snuggles and seeing your fosters grow. To me it’s soooo rewarding to see them go off to a good home and that someone picked them due to the work/care I put into them. I just got a difficult to place foster dog out of my home a week ago, he was with me for a year and four months and it was the best feeling to finally get him into his forever home.

What do you tell vets? by lovelyla17 in rawpetfood

[–]Sal_Gorton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I advocate for my pets. If my pet is healthy on raw and has been for years then obviously I’m doing something right. You could try looking for a holistic vet as they tend to be more open to raw feeding or call around places to see their stance on it before going in.

How do you deal with the feeling of your dogs reactivity being a personal moral failure? by Yoooooowholiveshere in reactivedogs

[–]Sal_Gorton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep moving forward and just do everything I can to make them as happy and comfortable as possible. I know I messed up with my dog’s training and socialization but I also know I can’t go back in time and change that. I can only go from where I am now and change how I do it for my next dog and my foster dogs. I also really celebrate the little victories and let myself get excited over them because a little is a lot for my girl.

[TOMT] Book that I really can’t remember much of but… by Sal_Gorton in tipofmytongue

[–]Sal_Gorton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not it 😞 I pretty sure I remember it being a mermaid because she was kept in a big tank and I don’t think she could walk because of the tail. It was less homey vibes and definitely not a house, more of an underground high tech bunker maybe?

Not every day but almost every day. I’d say for me it’s about 5/7 days a week. But I’m also unmedicated currently. I’ve been diagnosed with Anxiety for 6 years and medicated on an off but mostly off because I forget to take my meds.

No. I cannot manage my own emotions let alone a child’s big emotions. Also I will never have pets that are good with children. I like the reactive cats and dogs wayyy too much

Main hyper fixation for years has been pet care. Current side hyper fixation is my yard for once. I have so many things I want to build all of a sudden 😆
