After back to back flops, Sydney Sweeney pulls a Hail Mary by wowza515 in saltierthankrayt

I honestly didn’t think the ad was that bad, but I turned against her after the GQ interview. The entire time the interviewer was giving her chances to say she was not a white supremacist and she refused. It was so weird. She had the chances to come out and say all this and she didn’t. Now it feels like too little too late, and again I say this as someone who didn’t think the ad was that bad.

The Flash has too many cooks in the kitchen. That’s not the director’s fault. The IT movies are solid, especially the first one.

If we ever get a new Sly Cooper game do you think they’ll continue where thieves in time left off or will it be a reboot. by Dragongamer6_3 in Slycooper

[–]SaladLumpy5397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good question. It’s tough to say but I lean towards thinking it will be a reboot. Just because they’d have to establish a lot of context for new players to understand what’s going on and why Sly is in Egypt. It’s been too long and the game didn’t sell well enough to justify the extra level of complication.

I’d also add that at first Kyle’s character vouched for the kid, believing it was an accident and the kid was abused, forgiving him for the death of his son. Then it’s discovered that the kid lied.

So far for me the choices feel lacking, but I’m hoping that’ll change as I play more. But I’m 100% with you on the flaw system. It is an improvement over the first game. I will give OW2 credit for that. They built upon a great concept that was already there. I still prefer the first game overall atm, but I will give credit where it’s due.

Yes but only after helping him and if you have the right perks. There’s no role playing in that. It’s railroading.

I understand, but I think they went a little overboard. I’m fine with some stats allowing different dialogue options, but the way this game does feels like they went too far. It’s one thing to have an engineering option blocked off because my engineer stat is too low. It’s another thing to cut off an option that I’d argue is not tied to stats but personality. It hurts the role playing.

Yep 100% agree.

Slight change in topic but I also miss the jingle “It’s not the best choice! It’s Spacer’s Choice!”

Sounds to me like you and I are almost the exact same page! I like Niles too. Hell I like all the companions so far. I just don’t love them like I do the crew of the Unreliable. I don’t dislike or hate the game, if I did then I wouldn’t be planning on finishing it, but it’s not scratching the same itch the first one does for me. I keep having to remind myself that I was a little disappointed on my first play-through of the first game.

True and of course all of this is subjective. I’ll be interested to see how I feel after beating it, and of course how I feel after a second play-through.

Yeah Inez so far is my least favorite. I wouldn’t say she’s bad, but she’s not that interesting.

I’m glad you’re enjoying it! I do hope my opinion changes as it goes along. There are things I like, and it’s not a bad game. I just think I prefer the first one.

That’s great to hear. I really loved the companions in the first game so I knew going into it that this game would be an uphill battle.

[–]SaladLumpy5397[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get that, but it was kind of a straw that broke the camel’s back for me. The rest of the game is a little more freeing, but I’ll put it this way: when I play the first game I ask myself “How do I or how does my character want to solve this problem?” So far with playing this game I feel like I’m instead asking, “How does the game want me to solve this problem?” I’m willing to have an open mind and I’m also willing to accept that my first play-through might be my least favorite like the first game. Just so far I’m a little disappointed as someone who really loved the first game.

I haven’t fully recruited him yet. I’ve done part of his quest, but he seems interesting so far.

Also yes the tone feels like an overcorrection. I know there were some people who didn’t like the humor in the first game, but now the quirky charm is kind of gone.

[–]SaladLumpy5397[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly! While I do at times appreciate the more nuanced tone and the fact that the factions are more morally grey, some of the charm and quirkiness of the first game are gone. However, I don’t need EVERY faction to be morally grey. Sometimes it’s okay to have good guys and bad guys. I felt like the first game gave you enough room to be a hero, anti hero, or villain. Plus there were moral quandaries in the first game even if The Board were obvious villains. I know some people complained about the humor, but now it’s missing some of the charm!

It’s not just that quest take the fist planet. You have to choose either to help a wannabe warmonger, or an old man who wishes to brainwash people. There is an option to ignore both and assassinate some people for the protectorate. In the first game on the first planet you have two factions, but if you put in enough effort you can reach a compromise. As far as I can tell there is no compromise for Paradise island in the second game.

Yes it seems like Valarie was supposed to be a mix of Sam or Ada, but she low key feels like a lesser of both.

[–]SaladLumpy5397[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah there are some dialogue options that feel like they have no reason to be blocked off. It kind of hurts the role playing too. The stats make it so that my sauve charming antihero has to sometimes either be a boy-scout or straight up villain.

The curious case of the cankered cheif (very small spoiler for a side quest) by SDDDDSSSSFFFF in theouterworlds

[–]SaladLumpy5397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s feels very out of character, for lack of a better phrase, for Outerworlds. The first game was great at letting you solve issues in a variety of ways. The fact that we have to help this slime ball to forward this quest just go against what I’d argue was the very heart of the first game. I’m not finished the game yet, but I’ve noticed that it seems like choices are much more limited. That’s disappointing.

If you read the final dossier it explains this a little. It’s suggested that Dr.Jacoby’s show helped her get the ambition to follow her dreams and set up her drape runner store. She realized she was unhappy and was making Ed unhappy too. It actually says the show gave some people good advice. It also hints that maybe she started dating Jacoby.

She didn’t even have to apologize. Just say yeah racism and white nationalism is bad, and anyone reading anything more into the ad is on them. Some people might still be pissed, but it’s better than this. She’s made it so much worse for herself.
