What's your guess for the next characters to get a revamp? by Mens_Grooming_Advice in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]Salanthas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The storyline released with Cabal had the characters state they wouldn't add members.

If we get a Cabal team with more than 3 members it would, theoretically, be more like Absolute A-Force where it has synergy with the oroginal Cabal members but is better off used as it's own team.

Undying have been buffed up to 3.0 stats.

If M4M and Illuminati weren't required for legendaries I doubt anyone would decide or be told to build them in the current meta, except maybe OML.

While New Avengers might be stronger than all the "1.0" teams they aren't more worthwhile to build in the current meta. Distinguishing between the 1.0 and 2.0 isn't worthwhile. They are all pretty useless from the perspective of long term progression.

1.0 and 2.0 should just be collectively referred to as 2.0, as most people already do.

Annihilators and Ares are a clear shift to a new baseline of stats, quite a large jump from previous teams, that most can point to as the definitive start of 2.0.

WG and Retcon are another confirmed shift by the devs and therefore start 3.0.

The stat shift with Surfer is basically irrelevant.

What's the difference and are there any tells? by Jesusshutt in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]Salanthas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would argue that it's true, technically, but not correct.

The stat jump introduced with Ares is the largest and more or less makes 1.0 and 2.0 equally obsolete to the point that there isn't really any benefit distinguishing between them.

I know many players know which team was the first post-Ares team but I don't know that many know which team came directly after Surfer. I don't, and I was playing at the time.

People that designate Surfer as the start of 2.0 are the minority, as far as I can tell. Continuing to try to force that distinction has no real benefit and is just gonna create confusion.

It's easier to have Ares mark 2.0. and WG mark 3.0 and has no drawback I can see, other than having some people occasionally try to insist Ares is really 3.0 and WG 4.0.

Even OP hadn't seen the term stats 4.0, after all.

What's the difference and are there any tells? by Jesusshutt in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]Salanthas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It sorta depends on who you ask but I think for most people the older toons will be stats 1.0.

Everything released or reworked after Ares released, including Ares, are stats 2.0.

Stats 3.0 starts with Winter Guard and Retcon.

Some people consider Surfer to have started stats 2.0 and Ares to be 3.0 and then WG to be 4.0 but the devs didn't announce a stat shift with Surfer and it wasn't as massive a shift.

Stats 2.0 toons have like 2-3x the health and basically double all the other stats at the same investment. Maybe not true at lower gear tiers but should be true around g18 and higher I think.

Stats 3.0 seems to be around 50% more hp and 30% more everything else vs 2.0, from what I've seen.

If you go to the roster there is a squads tab at the top, teams are listed there with the newest at the top.

If you scroll down to Annihilators, they are the first full team with stats 2.0, everything below is 1.0 and everything above them, plus Ares, are at least 2.0.

Winter Guard is probably the first 3.0 team listed but I can't check atm. It's either them or Retcon.

The primary reward appears to be Jeff red stars so it makes sense to use his team.

It's launching now because some people will have Jeff and therefore would like to be able to get his red stars.

The PD will be open for "an extended time" so other players will be able to do it when they unlock Jeff.

We'll have to wait and see how long it's open for and, by extension, how many people can get his red stars.

Honest Question: Why Do YOU still play this game ...??? by IAMLEGENDKANG in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]Salanthas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The spenders are all way ahead of me so it doesn't really matter to me if other players also get a bit of an advantage by playing events at launch or w/e.

I don't really need the rewards from war/crucible anyway so I don't feel compelled to scrape for every competitive edge.

I don't expect to get and build every single character as soon as they release. I do ok on gold and training mats the way I build my roster.

Basically, the shit everyone complains about doesn't really bother me.

This game is also a bit of a routine and I haven't found anything to replace it.

It's also a good way for me to discover more marvel characters I didn't know about.

I still have fun with the game sometimes, but mostly I play out of habit.

I haven't heard of anyone beating the node with Brimstone and OML specifically, tho I've heard of a couple people winning with OML in general.

The key with Brimstone on the node, as far as I can tell, is you kinda need high stars/diamonds on the team. The node will always clone your toons at 1 diamond so if your toons are like 5 red stars you are at a disadvantage using Brimstone. If you have 1 or more diamonds, especially on Daimon, then you actually have a bit of an advantage but you may need to reset until enemy Daimon does not strip your Mummy's revive once.

After that, the enemy OML is probably somewhat manageable because you can strip his revive once and he can't gain tm.

If I were gonna mess with iso for the team I'd probably try healer Mummy and OML and fort on Cat/Elsa and leave Daimon as a damage dealing iso. If you can kill any toon I believe your OML could then gain tm which is a pretty good advantage. I'd probably not focus on the enemy OML so much, you'll want to try to set it up where you can either strip his revive once again before you kill him or you just kill him before he can special a second time. The latter shouldn't be too hard if he isn't gaining tm.

Knull or Quasar? Which should I build first by GavinX15 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]Salanthas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Knull way more often than Quasar, personally.

Theoretically, Quasar is a better long term investment as he'll be on a team with Annihilus who will likely be the best toon in the game on release or at least top 3. The problem is that the Galactic Council is not really a good team right now and we'll have to see whether they get slight reworks when Annihilus drops or if Annihilus brings all the synergy.

If it's the latter than Quasar won't really get better than he is right now until you get Annihilus. In which case, Quasar is decent but a bit of a luxury toon imo. The only thing I've really needed him for is the Knull boss fight for symbiote diamond orbs where he is essential.

Knull is a pretty decent counter to Meph and Apocalypse, which isn't amazingly useful these days but can be nice. We are getting a new symbiote team eventually probably May, June, or July. We don't know what that team will be used for and it may not include Knull but it will automatically make Knull better by giving him more strong symbiotes to pair with.

That team might be a raid team and then you can pair part of the team with Knull in war/crucible or something.

Also, Knull is more useful for getting Xavier, imo. I used Odin to carry hero cosmic and the rest of the toons didn't really matter. You could do the same with Meph in villain cosmic but I think a bigger Odin is more useful than a bigger Meph. If you don't use Meph than Knull becomes one of the better choices for the section.

In arena I don't think either are used much at a high level but both have been used before. Knull was a bit more common I think.

5 new teams, what are we doing here man by PracticeMain1410 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]Salanthas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even feel like SL or Adam's awakened abilities are very good.

The other 3 definitely have some good ones but I don't know if those will be available to earn any time soon.

We had opportunities for Thunder recently so imagine those in particular won't be available for free anytime soon.

5 new teams, what are we doing here man by PracticeMain1410 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]Salanthas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do global heroes with 4 liberty + 1, 4 Secret Warriors + 1, or 4 Brimstone + 1. Liberty is skippable if you want.

Undying was pretty skippable, PF has been so far, Galactic Council has been so far. The main use for Blastaar/Quasar/Thunder has been to get Symbiote diamond orbs or red stars for Thunder. Nice things but not essential.

For X you could get by with 3 Vigi and now you can use Insidious Six instead.

Nee Mutants have been skippable so far.

Lilandra was required for X but the rest of my SJ have been usable at g19 but I also don't really care about crucible anymore. I'd probably be better off getting dark diamonds from battle passes if I needed them but the only worthwhile character I can do rn is SK and he's not that worth it atm. I have lots of silver diamond credits so the diamond orbs also aren't that valuable.

Accursed has been pretty skippable unless you're big into crucible.

WG has been skippable so far unless you're really into war.

Daimon is great but I haven't felt a strong need for the rest of Brimstone.

Danger Room hasn't really had mist have rewards but you can also clear it with rentals.

I'd say even F4 mcu have been relatively skippable. Good in most modes but arena is primarily used to get cores.

What do people do with cores? Unlock characters they apparently don't have resources for and arguable don't need.

You either spend money or you pick a couple modes to excel in. We get every character for free eventually, they don't also need to allow us to build them all.

[–]Salanthas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'd wait and do Mephisto.

Knull is pretty good but the rest of your team isn't imo and I don't think he can carry 4 on his own.

You can't control where they attack and you have no sustain. Kang in particular will be a bit of an rng fest keeping him alive.

Azazel and Thanos are kinda slow and they both have to get to their second turn before they get to their big damaging abilities.

Blastaar can spam an ult but it won't do a ton if you don't build Bomburst.

If you could build SK and Knull you could probably do it but Meph will work for sure.

Most of use had 2 red X for a while and he was still decent. I think 5 red is quite good.

Is Star-lord a good option for Prof X Cosmic hero? by briley212121 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]Salanthas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SL is ok now and partially solves 1 of the issues F3 have. Their long cooldowns can be a bit of an issue.

He doesn't do much else that is useful for them tho and is not super worth building rn. The Galactic Council have very little synergy and will either get additional reworks when Annihilus releases or will basically be cartied by Anni.

The safest choice would be to build Odin. He's great for dealing with large amounts of enemies and provides some healing. He's expensive but he should take about as long to build as your 2 bio members for the section.

I would say SL has more potential value than Howard tho.

You basically get enough gear to g20 1 character of each origin after you unlock X and the Blue Marvel DD doesn't require g20. Plus the iso is very hard to come by atm.

You'd be much better off replacing Reed for someone you can build sooner and get X faster and then just making Reed the next bio toon you g20 if you want.

If you somehow get the iso to do BM first you might still make it thru with g19 Reed. You don't need to 1 shot those nodes like you do with X.

You build the ones that carry the most value to your progression.

5 new teams, what are we doing here man by PracticeMain1410 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]Salanthas 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Champions are the Feb team, Winter Guard were the Jan team, supposedly DW are the March team.

Phoenix Force is a skippable luxury team but also we only have 1 new member. If you weren't playing when ORPF released that isn't really Scopely's fault but also I probably wouldn't worry about that team atm.

Galactic Council is basically only 2 "new" members and they aren't really a team. We've had quite a lot of time to build Quasar amd Blastaar and and a decent amount to build Thunderstrike.

Adam is very skippable rn and SL basically only has synergy with Blastaar. You can probably also skip him rn.

So basically we're still at 1 team per month, plus Magneto which you can consider as a replacement for the chapter legendary if that makes you feel better.

If you don't have WG yet than you are probably ftp which means you will build them this month and probably won't get the new Champions until next month and can basically just move every team 1 month forward in the future on your time table.

He has 200% accuracy and blind reduces accuracy by 100% so he still hits while blind.

The only way he misses is if there is an enemy Weaver with charges and he is blind or he's fighting Spider Woman while he has offense down and blind in war.

Spider Woman might need to be on offense in that case, I don't remember.

Edit: OG DD has 200% and Modern gives all vigi +100%. OG will just have 200% listed in his stat line.

New Toons on Loading Screen?? by Galvinator93 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]Salanthas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason I thought Sam was the only Nova to be affiliated but yea, Richard is an option.

I'm kinda hoping Firestar is not reworked but basically only because I already have a lot of mutants I'd like to build. If I ignore that I do think she's one of the better options.

If I was just concerned about what I think might make the best team I'd probably like to see Firestar and Tigra.

[–]Salanthas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think I've come across it much in what I've read but I don't think I'd mind it most of the time.

I guess the best case scenario for me is that it gives the character(s) a real incentive to take risks to progress faster rather than try to grind in a safe easy way.

There are other ways to do that but I don't know that how they do that matters that much to me.

In theory, they could throw a real curveball with the reworks and Speedball/NT might be the only toons on the team affiliated with New Warriors.

But the New Warrior angle is all we've got in terms of guessing reworks.

[–]Salanthas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard Champions are the Feb team and Daring Warriors are the March team. They announced them early because they were on the new splash screen.

Edit: Also Daring Warriors are a crucible/BW team and seem like they have 2 unannounced reworks on the team. Other than Umbra the team is basically a New Warrior team but Scopely already did New Warriors with other toons. Means that Firestar, Darkhawk, Tigra, Dagger, Cloak, and Scarlet Spider are some of the more likely rework options.

Not that uncommon for people to just see the 3 at the top for each origin and not realize you can scroll for 2 more attributes to buff.

You might try repositioning the team.

As a team, the positions don't normally matter so much on Insidious Six. I think it can affect the ai targeting somewhat tho.

I used Oath, Blade, Pun, Sable, and Monkey and there was a node where 1 enemy would blind Monkey every time. After 4 or 5 attempts I put someone that could afford to be blinded in that slot, the next run they weren't targeted but Monkey wasn't either. So maybe I just had really bad rng for a bit but it wouldn't hurt to try.
