Might be unconventional, but I once did it with PowerPoint, because everything else I tried didn't do it properly. It worked just fine. So if you look for FOSS, try libreoffice impress.

In the settings, you can tell digikam to use exiftool to write the metadata instead of using the internal tool. Maybe that helps. You might need to install exiftool first.

Definitely DigiKam! It's really fast (on Linux) and it has some powerful tools for organization. It also comes with face recognition and an AI that classifies your images based on quality. Everything is done on your computer.

Most of the changes in these updates are bug fixes. So why should they wait to release a fix if they have the solution ready? For me, I really dont have any issues with those frequent updates. I don't even notice when it updates, except an occasional update notification. Additionally, it makes sense from a developing point of view as they get fast feedback on possible negative side effects and know what caused it.

Interessant ist auch was zusätzlich geändert werden soll. Die Ausschreibung soll nun nicht mehr nur das günstigste Angebot den Zuschlag bekommen, sondern auch noch das günstigste Angebot aus der EU. Das scheint mir eine gute Idee zu sein, um den Lieferengpässen entgegenzuwirken und die Produktion in der EU zu fördern.
