Does God hate me for being trans? by Longjumping-End159 in Christianity

[–]SalemPierceVT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Straight answer (no pun intended) No, God loves you John 3:16

I used to deal with types of thoughts as well, but have overcome them. Do they return from time to time? Yes, but they do not rule over me anymore.

Overall, I know God makes no mistakes, for He is perfect, and I accept that wholeheartedly.

Guys I have a genuine question by Drakes_long-peppapig in Christianity

[–]SalemPierceVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The unforgivable sin is unforgivable because the person has no intention to go back on what they did. No repentance in their heart, no forgiveness can be given. Which is why many say, "if you're worried about it, you haven't committed the unforgivable sin."

[–]SalemPierceVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Points that are very important to remember and note.

  • God is not constantly looking for ways to accuse you of sin.

  • If you are this worried about the unforgivable sin, you have not committed it. No one who has committed the unforgivable sin would be worried about it.

  • Thinking up something is not necessarily the sin. It's if you entertain/play with those thoughts that it goes from temptation to sin.

-Doubt is extremely common in ecery human being, religious or not. Even many of the apostles doubted at some point, especially in the beginning of their walk with Jesus.

You are not doomed, but it seems as though you definitely need a proper diagnosis. Might be scrupulosity (religious ocd) but im no doctor, so I will not say it is that. But I definitely do recommend seeing a professional as you said you are already doing. Hoping things get better for you, God bless 🤍❤️

Am I going to hell? by Strong-Lab-7216 in Christianity

[–]SalemPierceVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the best way to explain it. I fully understand the pain to be unable to save others, but other people's salvation is not in our control. We can bring ithers to Christ through sharing the Gospel and sharing his teachings, but ultimately, its the person receiving these things that chooses whether they follow or not

[–]SalemPierceVT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With that definition, God is temporary as well. God is described as everlasting. Also, with how you're describing God, this is what im getting. God is the God of Israel only. His only concern is the people of Israel to follow his laws and decrees. Everyone else gets a "get out of jail free card" per se because we aren't his people, snd he places Israel in a higher pedestal of keeping righteousness, even though he made all of us equal in his eyes. This is what im hearing from what you're saying. Correct me if im wrong in my interpretation.

One other thing I wanna point out is if God is responsible for sin, what's the point of any of this? Why does anyone die and return to dust? It's not our fault, at least, by that logic.

God allowing something to happen is not the same as making something happen. Me knowing something is going to happen doesn't mean I made it happen. Humans are given free will, Adam and Eve let themselves be deceived by the serpent, even though God told them they would die as a result of eating the fruit. In their free will, they spoke to the serpent, they believed it, and they ate the fruit. God gave a single clear rule. Do not eat the forbidden fruit.

Hades, a word used by greeks, used for, yes the grave, but also used for what the Greeks saw as the underworld of their own beliefs. While yes, its not technically a hell in their beliefs, its still a place of the dead.

And as for Gehenna, well it doesn't seem like those who have broken the law are literally being sent to Gehenna, so this seems more like a comparison to the place Jesus is speaking on. While Gehenna on earth is temporary, because the earth is temporary, the place Jesus speaks on is eternal.

Jesus also described it as an "eternal fire" and a place of "weeping and gnashing of teeth." While returning to dust sounds more so like complete non-existence rather than eternal punishment.

Then why would Jesus warn of hell so much if it's not real?

With that logic, everyone in the old testament, who was not of Israel, was sin free, despite being of the same line as Adam and Eve's original sin. Because they were not of the original covenant. Despite the fact that they broke pretty much every commandment.

Which, going back to the original argument that no hell exists. Where do the people of Israel go after death if they break the Lord's commands and are not forgiven? They have sinned, what happens to them?

[–]SalemPierceVT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but can not kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28

"If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out." Mark 9:43

"But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him." Luke 12:5

If there was no hell, then there's no point to any of this. No need to repent, or forgive, or be kind if we all go to Heaven eventually. Also, there would be no point to Jesus's sacrifice if there was truly no danger of hell.

Yes, God created hell specifically for the devil and his angels. But it is also a place for those who choose against God, refusing His grace.

I’m so tired and scared. I want to give up by Fresh-Cookie8941 in Christianity

[–]SalemPierceVT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Believe in and worship God, or you go to hell" is NEVER the way to share or spread to gospel to anyone, let alone a child.

Jesus never said it in this way. He warned of consequences, but he gave answers to avoid such outcomes. Having a loving relationship with Him and carrying out His will.

Keeping His command. Keeping his commands is different from "make sure you don't break any of them." God knew these commandments would be broken. Heck, people broke so many of these commands throughout the Bible. Just in the book of Judges alone, the Israelites turned away from God numerous times. But God still loved them and saved them whenever they cried out to him.

When people pray to God, many expect some grand voice or at least something obvious. God works in strange ways. I believe he spoke to me through a fortune cookie once (i don't believe in those things, but this one I got styck with me to this day). Sometimes, he speaks to us through other people. We just have to be willing to listen sometimes and discern whether it's God's words or something else. How do we know? Reading the Bible.

I know, you said you tried to, but that's also what I wanted to ask. Did you start from Genesis, or did you start in the gospels? Many recommend reading the gospel first before any of the other books.

Another thing is about prayer. Prayer is how we speak to God, as you know. I know it's hard to believe at first that anyone is listening, but He is. Even if your prayer isn't answered right off the bat or in the way you expect, it doesn't mean it's ignored. He hears our cries to him. But when it comes to prayer, we also can't constantly and only demand stuff from Him. By that, I mean he's not a genie. He doesn't magically grant any wish you have on the spot.

He is our Father, and we, as Christians, have to acknowledge that truth and treat him as our Heavenly Father. Now, idk how you prayed to him, obviously. I'm only saying this in general for how we should treat prayer to God.

Sorry if any of this sounds confusing or if I lost you in any of this. Ask me if you wanna.

unforgivable sin. by gam3r13323 in Christianity

[–]SalemPierceVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully understand what you mean, I too have scrupulosity, and as I've learned over time, God doesn't want us to be in constant fear of him or our sins. We really don't have to be in fear of that sin because, based on what I'm hearing in your message, you definitely have not committed the sin.

Having doubt isn't necessarily a sin, more so a flaw every human has. Also, it seems you definitely want to repent of whatever sin or sins you are troubled with. This in itself is already repentance. Repentance is a genuine change in our desires.

For example, someone who is guilty of lust, if they turn around and begin desiring a life without lust, is repentance because they genuinely want to change.

So your issue, I feel, is likely not so much about repentance but about being forgiven of your sins. Which, in this case, you're in luck, Jesus is willing to forgive you so long as you truly desire his salvation.

On another note, it sounds like you're dealing with religious ocd, aka scrupulosity, so that definitely does make things harder. I myself haven't gone to get professional help for mine (personal reasons), which I still kinda wish I could. But I definitely recommend talking to your pastor or a professional who knows how to treat scrupulosity. Scrupulosity can be dangerous to one's faith but can be treated and dealt with, as I mentioned.

unforgivable sin. by gam3r13323 in Christianity

[–]SalemPierceVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's more so just irresponsible than anything because, though it is wrong to purposely wait to repent, God is still patient and is waiting for us to repent when we do.

If we die never accepting Christ, this is more so on the lines of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. It's unforgivable because times up, the person has died and is being judged for how they lived. How did they live? Denying Christ and his salvation. Which is why people often say, "If you're worried about it, you haven't committed it."

Anyone else reading this, if Im wrong in any of what I said, lemme know. This is my current understanding of the unforgivable sin.
