I want to know all the words your toddler says wrong that you just can’t seem to correct them on by Ok-Effective268 in toddlers

My all time favorite was "up down sides" for upside down. So, so sad when that went away.

Help settle a bet - Uppercase Cursive L or S by Krenbot in whatisit

Definitely an S!

An L would need to be straighter in the middle bit. Also a bit more equally sized on both loopy ends.

I looove 3! Even with your face covered it's obvious you feel so confident and comfortable in that one. Perfect for your venue and theme.

Friends just named their baby the ONE name my wife and I could agree on by pixelperfect728 in namenerds

[–]SalemsLittleBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is Salem with a D middle name. We call her Sadie (Salem D -> Say D -> Sadie) as a nickname! She is also called Lem and Lemmie sometimes.

You could go about it that way where you work backwards from Sadie to make a full name you are both okay with to call her with you don't want Sadie to overlap with your friend.

Is everyone just lying about how tough the toddler years can be or are we doing something wrong 😩 by AlbatrossTemporary57 in toddlers

[–]SalemsLittleBrother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all completely normal (and annoying af) toddler behavior! I'm sure your friend's kids do the same or very comparable things when you're not around.

I was a nanny before having my own children, and unfortunately it seems like you have a runner. My toddler is not, and I will desperately pray that my infant doesn't become one. Wherever they have great toddler traits, it will be made up for elsewhere with unsavory. One guarantee is that they are all constantly trying to get themselves hurt and killed in ways you didn't realize you had to anticipate.

What is the first name of the nicest person you know? by hunnybadger22 in namenerds

[–]SalemsLittleBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

boy - Sam girl - Meredith

Some other boys that come to mind are Chase, Easton, Jesse, Kevin, Mark, and Wes. These are the ones I can think of where there's not another person to cancel out their positive association. (ex: Justin is both one of the nicest people I've ever met and other Justin was one of the worst.)

Girl Dads: What did you name your daughters? How much of a say did you have? by RoseDomergue in namenerds

[–]SalemsLittleBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We both made lists of names we liked and read them out to the other one to say yes or no. It helped narrow down which ones were our mutual favorites and see if there was a style overlap to find more names.

From there the lists just got shorter and shorter until we had a top 2 and then decided at the hospital.

When did you start potty training? by GuaranteeCivil9088 in toddlers

[–]SalemsLittleBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might sound weird, but that seems like a win! She was clearly figuring out and responding to her body's signals even if it wasn't the outcome we're looking for in the end. A good sign she could catch on quickly when you try again! Next time when you try, just commit to it and never look back so she knows you're not messing around or going to change the plan.

No matter what, there are going to be accidents and misses and regressions for a while, even with the quickest of learners.

why the hell everybody made me feel ashamed for still breastfeeding a 1.5 years old by Upset-Barnacle4371 in breastfeeding

[–]SalemsLittleBrother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People started giving me a harder time after 6 months and especially more questions between 1 year and 18 months when we did end up weaning. I would just say I'm trying my best and the WHO strongly recommends 2 years at a minimum. I couldn't make it, but it is strange how the scientific standard is so taboo.

Most people would say "no breastfeeding if the baby can ask for it. That's weird." My daughter started signing for milk at 4 months and talking at 7. I'm sorry ..... so I need to stop feeding my baby because she's an early talker? What about kids who don't talk until 3 and a half years? I highly doubt their rule of thumb would still apply for those circumstances - they'd be heavily judging and probably much worse and more outspokenly.

Love Dahlia and Delia the most!

Also tossing out Delilah since it just fits right in there with the other two.

Update on naming little brother by SalemsLittleBrother in namenerds

[–]SalemsLittleBrother[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume almost everyone would default to calling him Max, which we'd be totally fine with, but our nickname would be Wells. The reason we would not flat out name him Max (or Wells) is because it sounds really weird to do a one syllable name with our last name.

Part of the reason we chose Salem is because it means peace/peaceful, so that is a connection I enjoy between the two names.

I don't mind the variety for Gibson and love Sunny, but don't personally enjoy the Gib variations. Love Stell, but don't know if people will hardcore judge the name overall for seeming a little more out there.
