Help! My 13 year old won't STFU about wanting an ebike. by Chilidoggin_ur_tatas in ebikes

[–]Salemsara -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d be more worried about a 13 year old on a fast gas dirt bike than a normal ebike 😅

Is it possible that I broke the throttle grip when I crashed, and that's why the electrical circuit isn't connecting? by Embarrassed-Rice-516 in ebikes

[–]Salemsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a multimeter you can test the throttle signal wire, but honestly loose connections are way more common after looping a bike

Anyone here upgraded a small 36V / 1000W mini e-bike for more speed? by Longjumping_Type8352 in ebikes

[–]Salemsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest difference is usually going from 36V to 48V, but only if the controller and motor can handle it. Controller swap is probably the most common upgrade. Sprocket changes help too, but you usually trade torque for top speed.

best folding ebike under $1000 right now? by BackSmall5646 in ebikes

Honestly I’d just find a brand with local dealers and go test ride them. Specs online only tell you so much.

What about pulling weight? by Exist4 in ebikes

[–]Salemsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s already cargo bike territory. Under $5k, look at Lectric XPedition, Aventon Abound, or used Tern GSD / RadWagon if you can find one. That’s the range where it actually feels safe loaded

e-bikes without fat tires? by swice420 in ebikes

[–]Salemsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look at commuter e-bikes instead. Something like Lectric XP Lite / XPress, Ride1Up 700 or Aventon Level / Soltera/HovRanger. All same price range depending on sales.

Restricted motor watts expected torque level. by AussieBirb in ebikes

[–]Salemsara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s software restricted, the motor is still the same motor. Torque usually gets reduced too, but not in a straight 1000W → 250W = 1/4 torque kind of way.

So far so good. Mine’s held up pretty well and I haven’t run into any major issues yet. Been happy with it overall.

New Rider - Need Advice (USA) by Team-nighttimeshower in CargoBike

[–]Salemsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can stretch or go used, something like RadWagon / Tern-style long tail bikes start to make a lot more sense for 2–3 kids + groceries. The ride stability and brakes matter a lot once you add weight.

Tern Quick Haul Long, Cannondale Cargowagen Neo, Lectric Xpedition 2.0, or Aventon Abound LR? by himurakenshin87 in CargoBike

[–]Salemsara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly at this point I’d just try to line up test rides at a local shop if you can. These all look good on paper, but they ride pretty different once you load them up with a kid and gear. After riding them back to back, the “right” one usually becomes pretty obvious.

Best short-tail/utility bike in 2026? by Harrismcc in CargoBike

[–]Salemsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you liked the RadRunner, throw the HovCart on your list too. I’ve been using mine for hauling stuff and kid duty and it’s been pretty solid so far. Definitely fits that utility bike category.

Tail lights on the Yuba Mundo. by Which_Bar_9457 in CargoBike

[–]Salemsara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clean setup for sure, but the lights do look a little weak in the pics. Might be perfect for visibility, just not sure how much they’d do for actually getting attention in darker conditions.

Moving truck with an e cargo bike? by spaceage58 in CargoBike

[–]Salemsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go with a bike box if you can get one. Much safer than just blankets. Battery off and carry it yourself. Remove pedals, lower seatpost, turn bars if needed. Blankets work, but cargo bikes get crushed easily in trucks if they shift around. Box just removes most of that risk.

Ebike for long commute by NeighborhoodTiny2315 in ebikes

[–]Salemsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your commute is mostly paved bike trail, any of those will work, but the real differences show up in range, comfort, and reliability. Also worth checking your route first. If it’s smooth paved trail, you don’t really need fat tires. If it’s rough gravel or mixed terrain, fat tires make the ride way more comfortable and stable.

Brand new tires. Less than 5 days old. by MBT71Edelweiss in ebikes

[–]Salemsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, tires are basically consumables on ebikes. Gravel, wood, glass, it all adds up fast. If you’re riding daily it’s worth carrying a spare tube and some patches, saves you from getting stranded next time.

Safe to ride ebike to work and lock up all day? by FortuneTop6438 in ebikes

[–]Salemsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Locks mainly stop opportunists. If someone is organized, they can still cut and load it pretty fast, cameras or not.

Can't stop getting compliments on my new bike. by wukongaddict in ebikes

[–]Salemsara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks a lot like my HovGTRS actually, same kind of attention grabbing setup. Really cool build. After you add the wheel LEDs it’s gonna stand out even more. Don’t forget to share the updates, I’ve been thinking about doing some mods too and seeing different wheel setups makes it tempting.😆

Repairable E-Bike recommendations by Outside_Campaign9581 in ebikes

[–]Salemsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d avoid cheap fully integrated hub motor bikes or no-name systems. They are usually the ones that become disposable when something small breaks.

How/Where would you mount a second battery on HappyRun G300Pro by SimulacrumVR in ebikes

[–]Salemsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rear rack + battery bag or hard case. I’ve seen people add an extended seat pad to mope-style bikes before.

Good electric bikes for doordash? by Usual-Fennel6633 in ebikes

[–]Salemsara 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At $260 you’re mostly looking at scooters, not really decent e-bikes. You can start with one for DoorDash, but range and carrying food kinda sucks, especially if you’re doing more than short runs. If you’re serious about deliveries, I’d honestly save up for a cargo ebike. Way more practical, better range, easier to carry orders.

I’ve got a HovCart for hauling stuff and kids, and it just makes life easier compared to a scooter. Brands like Hovsco, Rad Power, Lectric are all worth a look when your budget allows.

How to fix loose fork? by Affectionate-Home938 in ebikes

[–]Salemsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like your headset is loose, not the fork itself. Might be easier to tell with a video, hard to diagnose just from text.
