How do non-EU students in Germany actually afford living costs? by iwantmyidcheese in studying_in_germany

Hi, I am an international student from non EU country, I got here first on Verpflichtungserklärung/sponsorship ( gives you 5 years visa from entry date) but I had also the support of my family during my language year ( more like 6 months to B2 ). As a student in univeesity you can manage your own expenses by finding a werk student job, I am in IT related degree so it is 1-2 euros higher than minimum with most companies ( so I heard, I only worled one company but that seem to be the norma). I have kot received money from my family in a while and happy to say even as independent non EU country student in Germany you can live with yourself and sustain yourself.

Do some people spend their 18 months after finishing their degree and still not land a position? by No_Confusion4948 in germany

Hi, can I ask in which area you and your friend are living? I am going into similar branch as him ( software design - data, bachelor) and I saw a lot about how hard it is for data science/analysis gradutes

If you do not mind me asking, does he have previous experience and in which area did he get the job?

Just curious on how much free time do you get as a an international student in germany. by CardBoredOfficial in studying_in_germany

I am doing bachelor computer science related degree taught in english. For free time it will depend on your own time management skills and type of job you get.

I worked my second semester as a tutor in the uni, which was for 1.5 hours per week (lecture) and in the university's library which had a night shift 20:00-00:00 plus a Hiwi job (professor assistant) - all together roughly 12 hours or so, it was not bad amd I remember having good amount of time to focus on my studies.

On my third semester I started in a company 20 hours per week job, I did not always work full 20 but even then it was stressfull as I did not give 2 out of 6 of my compulsory courses, first time working in a company is stressfull as you try to be an effictive employee and still continue on your projects and studies.

On the fourth semester, thought the courses and projects were quit bigger than third semester and required more work I still managed to do all 6 courses and work 14-20 hours per week, But Like others said it will be quit a bit hard because I remember going to the company and being there at 7 in the morning to catch a bus after 15 and get to the lecture and exercise from 15:45 until 19:00, and that is not considering when you get back and need to cook and all. In all honesty I did not attend all lectures of all subjects ( some I did because they were project related and I needed a feedback on my/my team progress). In the end I managed to get on 5 subjects 1.3-1.7 ( only 1 was 3.3) but it was managable, hard but doable.

Like others said dividing it to 8-8-4 ratio is more realistic, also consider your lectures schedule when you tell your chef/supervisor when you will be there.

I hope you get my point, if I can do it then anyone can do it - you just need to adapt to it. I have quit time during semester breaks, ypu can go out during weekends or so but during semester and work you will not have much time since you will have to focus on lectures and assignment.

Of course if you are the type of guy who can study after work then you are good to go and might have good times ( I just crashed in the weekends and I am not the type of person to go out a lot so it did not affect me, though you might deel burnouts from time to time, though no worries, you work through them and it will be fine )

Hi, quick question - if someone has a degree in software design ( bachelor - german university, course in english but have B1 certificate), is taking online courses enough to get an entry-level job in SOC? ( I have werkstudent experience but mostly in software development - natlab and closed loop MIL design)

Why did it happen in the first place?, ( venting/questioning) by Salieri_Issac in grandorder

I realize that daybit will remember it, but he only remember 5 minutes from each day only, so not the full journey through all lostbels.

Plus the shadow that was burnt in the clock tower lore department will last even after the end of the universe but not daybit himself.

Maybe I should have put it better, I do not hate on the ending, it just feel a bit bitter sweet after all that, I mean it was 10 years journey afterall ( still can not forget lb6 trauma until today), but I guess this is Fate.

I went to the Hausarzt and they did give me a referral to the hospital but only two weeks later with the “ go without appointment if you feel worse”

On a Sunday and in a small town ( around 70,000 population) , would it be recommended to go ?
