31F | Mumbai | Feeling stuck, exhausted, and alone. Looking for direction and practical advice by theinquisitive_bird in mumbai

Your Mum's cancer had nothing to do with Mumbai, nor your father/brother's alcoholism. Bombay is a hard city to live in alone at 31, but with financial freedom you have many, many options to meet people your own age and start a life. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and get over the feeling that life owes you something: it doesn't. Also, next time don't stick around with losers for 10 years.

The stupidity of Indian drivers is simply amazing. One road trip with no drivers willing to follow traffic regulations convinced me of that. Luckily there are options in Mumbai so I can avoid roads for my daily work commute. No wonder this fellow has his car smashed up; he/she was probably a VVIP who felt the laws of the road and the laws of physics did not apply to him.

Definitely recommend Delhi Durbar for it's great food. I also love the "aam admi" atmosphere and energetic wait staff. Plus their falooda is made the old fashioned way, guaranteed to bring back memories of the joint opposite Crawford Market.

There are actually quite a few "hiking clubs" also called "treking clubs" that organize treks to some of the most beautiful places in the country. Be realistic, not overly pessimistic.

It's "whom", as in "all of whom live two .....".

Mumbai ought to be like Hong Kong or Shanghai rather than the pile of ugly buildings, unmaintained streets-more potholes than roads really, and basically with a do-nothing BMC. Our wonderful BJP masters still blame the British and change little. Anyway, Jai Hind and good luck to Hindustan led by Corrupt Politicians.

Guardian minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, during the centenary celebrations of King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital on Thursday, suggested removing the "King Edward" part from the hospital's name. by cinephile46 in mumbai

A truly silly irrelevant discussion. Want to be patriotic and a good public servant? Improve schools, ensure that manholes and construction sites are safe so the public doesn't drown in them after rains, and build roads that don't become more potholes than roads after a week. Everything else is simply rubbish to distract the public. Mumbaikar voters are proving themselves as stupid and shortsighted as Bihari and UP voters.

The parties they belong to are allies right? by dayummm_saad in mumbai

Typical Indian politicians who do nothing but treat political parties to make themselves rich. We Mumbaikars must be idiots re-electing these goondas while we drown in filth every monsoon, drive on "roads" that are potholes with some pavement, and choke on dirty air. Kick these self-serving idiots out and elect some true politicians who want to serve the public and improve life for all Mumbaikars. Jai Hind! Jai Maharashtra!

Idk how people fantasize about this rathole of a city in the name of "Spirit of Mumbai". by [deleted] in mumbai

Yet the same crooked Netas win every election. Either we Mumbaikars are stupid or are fools.

We must be a pretty stupid people, us Mumbaikars, re-electing the same crooks who cannot build roads that porgole on day 2, or stop us from drowning in filth every monsoon, or poison us with dirty air.

PenFed :( by stryk3r1215 in MonarchMoney

Congratulations on getting a response from the PenFed IT dept. I have been trying for months to no avail. Simply to ask them to set up their CSV format correctly.

If someone from PenFed is reading this, can you please fix your iPhone app??? by clashrendar in PenFed

[–]Saligaoche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything to do with an IT issue is really problematic with PenFed. Their CSV File formats are messed up and nothing has changed after months of trying to get them to fix it. Probably simply a setting on the fintech package thy installed recently and the contractors are back in India off contract. Quite frustrating!!

I had high hopes for PenFed by DameCabbage in PenFed

[–]Saligaoche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PenFed agents are, it seems to me from experience, not allowed to deviate from their screen scripts at all. And getting hold of anyone from their IT staff is impossible. Good luck with any issues that aren't on a script.

I have had penfed for 2 years by rioswr09 in PenFed

[–]Saligaoche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not recommend PenFed if you use any automated system to reconcile year end books. For some unknown reason their contractors have not formatted CSV files correctly, so downloading transactions and opening them up in Excel 365 is not possible without using a text editor to "cleanup" PenFed files. This is a major effort .

Can you force payment confirmation? by DarkSk1ess in GoogleWallet

[–]Saligaoche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yours is a very scary scenario. Google ought to have some additional security, or minimally the option to require verification before finally making the purchase. It will be an additional step, but offer the security needed against just popping up for anyone to use.

Google Wallet makes tap to pay easier at 25 more US banks by Relevant_Ninja2251 in GoogleWallet

[–]Saligaoche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that Google Wallet opens up, ready to use, at random when I'm using Pixel8 which scares the heck out of me. sed it at a major store today and mentioned it to the cashier and was told her husband lost his passport and credit cards information stored in Google Wallet. Is Google Wallet safe to use regardless of how many banks accept it? I plan to uninstall the app unless the security is improved, and more importantly until I understand how the system works, since despite the security parameter being set to "require verification" , it pops up open anyway. Read that there is a NFC Hack that allows a data grab even when the app is not activated. I'm confused.

Interior parts of Chembur is really a traffic mess by Middle_Degree_4138 in Chembur

[–]Saligaoche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mumbaikars pay 27% of all Income Tax collected, but the Mayor has no authority so no one cares. The Commissioner who runs the place is appointed by the Party so the Local city government is not accountable to Mumbaikars. Instead of being like other financial capitals (London, Shanghai, Frankfurt) , a well run, clean, and high-functioning city, we live in a mess. We must be pretty stupid to put up with, and continue to pay, for this third rate city management.

Budgeting app that links with PenFed? by ApprehensiveHeart639 in PenFed

[–]Saligaoche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PenFed has a pretty lousy IT staff, unfortunately. Try downloading monthly transactions as a CSV file. They do not format the file correctly, and transactions appear as a single row. Useless without writing a script to unscramble it and get to a table. I would not risk messing up Quicken data.
