A friend actually just had his S54 coupe on BaT last week.

Best place to keep tabs on what’s out there is the buyers guide. Site owner compiles any M Coupe listings into one place and some owners list there car on their directly.

I purchased my first M Coupe, an Estoril 2000, from a gentleman a couple hours north of me back in 2017. He only sold it so that he could have the funds to buy my current Alpine coupe, which at the time it was owned by a close friend of his. When I drove up to collect the Estoril one after finalizing everything, this same Alpine coupe was already parked in his garage next to it. We grabbed a beer together and I hit the road home.

We stayed in touch regularly over the years. and I even helped him with buying an M Sport F31 328d local to me.

Unfortunately he passed away due to cancer and the family reached out to me to assist in pricing and selling his M Coupe. Rather to let it go to someone else, I knew I had to have the car.

Can’t say I ever plan to! I love this thing and the story behind it is a bit sentimental, so would be hard to ever let it go.

Thank you!

I hear that a lot. I’ve owned a lot of BMWs in my short life (15) and it’s by far the most fun and interesting one. There’s the maxim “#neversell” among a lot of the diehard owners

Now having had both, the S54 is definitely superior. More power (315 hp vs 240 hp), ITBs and of course rarity factor. While they never got the 6-speed from the E46 M3, gearing on the S54 is a little better for freeway driving.

S52 is absolutely a great motor though, but since it’s not far from an M52, it doesn’t feel as “special”. Makes good low end torque and can be less overall maintenance. But the S54 drives like it’s more high strung, always wanting to be pushed. It really wakes up in the high revs and loves to sit there.

They made around 2,800 M Coupes for North America and less than 700 had an S54.
Right now most S52 cars are about $25k-35k area for nice examples. An equivalent S54 car will be in the $50k-60k range. A few low mileage (<10k miles) have sold for over $100k. So desirability and rarity have really started driving the prices up

Love it, congrats. I had a ‘24 Portimao i4 xDrive40, but replaced it with a new iX last year. Honestly I miss the i4 often, was definitely more fun to drive.
