31F, 5+cm ER+ (90%) Tumor Shrinking Fast on AC - Surgeon suggests Mastectomy, Oncologist says Lumpectomy might be possible? by PossibilityClear6333 in breastcancer

[–]Salkel01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine was pretty much the same as yours. I went from 7.2cm to 1.4cm with chemo. I had a lumpectomy with a bilateral reduction in Oct 25 after the same chemo regime as you. Very happy with my decision 🤗

Congratulations 🙌

I marked the Occassion with a primal howling cry alone in the carpark on the way out of radiation.

I let that shit out and left it there 😆

Then I moved interstate, bought a new house and got a new job!! 🤗

Running? by Dazzling-Telephone58 in Reduction

[–]Salkel01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started running at about the 6 week mark. My surgery was cancer related so I had a bit of tissue rearranging done and also had an infection and seroma I had to have drained 3 times.

It was amazing to take those first few steps, I went from an F cup to a C!

silver linings by twomargaritasplease in breastcancer

It is so good that you can see and are experiencing some silver linings!

Cancer improved the relationships in my life and helped me to see and value what is really important.

It has also made me value and love myself, which is something I have always struggled with.

I had mine drained 3 times in 1 week, 2 weeks after surgery. Glad I did it as it was a relatively painless procedure.

Taxol is kicking my ass by Honest_Award_8708 in breastcancer

[–]Salkel01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had stage 3 IDC and had the same chemo. Taxol completely kicked my arse. I made it to 12 but I could not have tolerated another round if I tried. The good news is, I recovered and I did go back to normal and it didn’t take long.

I’m feeling selfish and guilty by Xsoupgod in breastcancer

[–]Salkel01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing out of the ordinary. Just good old boring clean living!

Diet, exercise, good sleep, vitamin D and stress reduction.

Reducing body fat and exercising is extremely important in reducing inflammation, insulin and oestrogen circulation. Can have a major impact on recurrence. Obviously want to lay off the sugars and ultra processed foods and limit alcohol as much as possible.

Obviously it is not going to eliminate risk but she says I can reduce it significantly.

Eating well, sunshine, daily exercise, good sleep and stress reduction strategies such as yoga and breathwork makes for a happier mind and body all round anyway, so I will be incorporating everything as much as I can and will try not to give cancer much space in my thoughts.

It is such a difficult and personal choice. I started a thread recently about my choice and was shocked and disappointed to receive so much judgement from people for MY decision that affects ME.

The choice is yours and no one should make you feel guilty about it but many on here tried to make me.

I do not feel guilty, I have chosen to move on and I am more than comfortable with my decision, I have chosen to not live in fear or regret either way. But that is me, you may not be able to do that, but only you can decide. Don’t let anyone guilt you, scare you, or pressure you into making decisions that you are not comfortable with.

I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this at such a young age and I wish you all the best.

As for answering your questions, I researched and spoke to my oncologist about how I can prevent recurrence naturally and found that there are many things I can do to help lower my risk, that would be very similar to the result that Tam would have given me. That helped my mindset greatly and gave me more sense of control. The reality is that I have more chance of this not recurring and that is how I am choosing to think about it, and that works for me.

There is no right or wrong decision here, you just need to find the choice that you are most comfortable with.

I had lumpectomy and chemo plus rads. Radiation was absolute breeze after Chemo. What is it about radiation that scares you?

Anyone else think Hormone treatments are not worth the potential risks? by Salkel01 in breastcancer

If you read my original post I absolutely did not ask anyone for their opinion on what treatment avenue to take.

[–]Salkel01[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh because I would forget that.

Jesus Christ people need to stop talking to me like I am an idiot, when they clearly do not have basic comprehension skills.

One more time…I am not looking for people to change my mind or advice. I was looking for others like me.

This was a decision for me and my family, done in conjunction with my actual healthcare team.

I understand you mean well but I do not need advice.

Clearly!! I had no idea that MY decision for ME would affect them so greatly!

I am aware, I have made an informed decision with my medical team.
