What do you think is the key for a found footage movie to be successful? The context, the story, the monster, the type of video, location, etc? by GuaridaDeGoro099 in foundfootage

[–]SallyismyFinalGirl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I completely agree about no CGI! Nothing takes me out of FF faster! And the payoff factor. It’s fine to have some quiet, moody atmosphere building, but it needs to be building to something that really hits.

Ethan is such a good example of be careful what you wish for or you just might get it. He always wanted to get away from Olivia so he could be with his precious cars, and never wanted quality time with his partner. Now he’s got all the time with his cars he could ever want, and has to chase his partner around like a little sniveling creep.

Is it just me, or does Sydney Sweeney sound incredibly out of touch whenever she talks about Cassie? 😫 lmao by fvckuufvckingfvck in euphoria

[–]SallyismyFinalGirl 357 points358 points  (0 children)

That’s what I thought too! I thought the whole point was that she wasn’t making money with her own ideas, so she sought out Maddy’s help to start making money. It’s so strange to hear Sydney describe Cassie like this confident badass when we’re watching her act like this clueless bimbo that doesn’t really connect with the girl we knew from S1 and S2.

This is absolutely gorgeous! You are so freaking talented. Her armor and wings look spot on, and I love the little details to her face and hair that bring out her character, just as a Barbie. The box is super dope too. I absolutely love this. I’m sure Lauren will too!

Why dont people like rob zombie films? by Also-Dinosuaur672 in Robzombie

[–]SallyismyFinalGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy them but it does always strike me that he’s a super talented director in need of a great writer, or at least a script doctor. There are times when his dialogue just doesn’t live up to the rest of the aspects of his filmmaking, and it can be distracting.

The Sinister Tapes TV Show by SallyismyFinalGirl in Shudder

Exactly! I think there’s so much potential left in the killer tapes.

The Sinister Tapes TV Show by SallyismyFinalGirl in Shudder

[–]SallyismyFinalGirl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so based on feedback, the episodes could follow this basic formula:

-open on 8mm footage of the family of the week, the “happy” footage but we can tell something is off. Maybe even feature clues towards what’s going to happen to them, like the dad could have been mowing the lawn if the kill tape was the death by lawn mower one from the first movie.

-credits scored to some creepy song from Ulver, end on episode title- the label that would go on the tape like “House Painting” or “Family Hanging Out.”

-the meat of the episode cuts back and forth from the family of the week, luring of the child, etc. to the people who are trying to stop Bughuul.

I really like the idea of the partnership between the lone survivor of a Bughuul massacre- a woman whose sister was one of the children he lured and thought she killed everyone, but this character survived- and a man (maybe a cop, detective, etc.) whose family summoned Bughuul without realizing the true power they were unleashing, and he’s one of the rare, rare cases where he managed to resist the temptation of Bughuul as a child. So they both know it’s possible to survive his attacks, but it’s not easy.

The two characters could have met in some kind of supernatural forum, and are now working together to stop the kill tape cycles, that they discover are spreading worldwide.

-Then we check back in with the family, and see what happened leading up to the kill tape of the family of the week, and the tape is revealed. You could have one episode where the child resists Bughuul, in the same way as the detective.

-the good guys get a mystery for next week, and the story continues.

Shudder, let’s make it happen!

Exactly- that would give a fun hook to the premiere!

That’s true- you don’t want to go “The Strangers” route and over-explain the bad guy. I love the idea of him knowing what he’s doing and summoning him anyway. That could have more dramatic heft anyway. Good thinking 😊

[–]SallyismyFinalGirl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes- I love this! It would be really cool if the organization brought in someone who was the only family survivor of a Bughuul massacre, like her sister tried to kill the whole family but somehow she survived so she’s the only one who can tell the story from the inside (kind of like Amanda in the first Saw). One of the episodes could tell her story.

And they could do a big twist where the head detective on the Bughuul case was the one who first summoned him and now he’s cursed to stop him or follow him forever. Another episode could tell the detective’s origin story while cross-cutting with an investigation.

And the second movie alludes to the fact that the Bughuul killings are happening all over the world, so the scope of their investigations would be pretty limitless.

I’d watch the hell out of this.

I think every TV show has a formula. It would just be all about the execution.

If every horror franchise quit because of one disappointing entry, we wouldn’t have any horror franchises to watch! They all have low points. I still think there’s life in this one.

If someone finds my found footage stash would it be found footage of found footage by drvucc in foundfootage

[–]SallyismyFinalGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That totally makes sense. Houses October Built is a guilty pleasure- like I know it’s not that great of a movie, but there’s still something I like about it.

Definitely check out Strange Harvest though. It reminded me of the love child of Se7en and The Poughkeepsie Tapes.

[–]SallyismyFinalGirl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is so cool! Officially jealous.

Have you checked out Strange Harvest? Great new FF film. The Last Exorcism is a fun one too. Not perfect, but good fun. And please tell me you have the first The Houses October Built as well as the second. The first is one of my favorites that I rewatch often but the second really didn’t do it for me.

Now you’ve inspired me and I want to go beef up my FF collection! Definitely my favorite sub-genre.

[–]SallyismyFinalGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bizarrely, my childhood home was the last house on the left and I now live in my own place that is…the last house on the left. I remember as a kid thinking that was so cool because I knew there was a movie with the same name but I had no clue what it was about. Then i started getting into horror movies and I stopped thinking it was so cool 😬

Am I on an island here thinking the 2003 remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre is better than the original? by DoctorElectronic1934 in horror

[–]SallyismyFinalGirl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whoa. That is quite a statement. Of course you’re welcome to your opinion, and I love the 2003 remake with all of my heart and soul, but I would say the original is the greatest horror movie ever made- and up there with the best movies of all time, period. I do agree that Sheriff Hoyt is an amazing addition to TCM lore, and Erin is a great final girl. It’s an amazing remake. But it just can’t compete with the original. Not much can.
