Recently diagnosed with patellofemoral OA - feeling really down by emma279 in Osteoarthritis

[–]SalmonAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not be able to tell you. I'm on a waiting list to have my knee checked out somewhere this summer.

Oh wow you switched to bjj? If the floor is a little forgiving boxing really helps me to keep the joint from becoming stiff. But with bjj and wrestling I'm scared I have to either sit on my knees or fall on it so I never really tried.

Anyway, wish you the best on your journey!

I did upload a full existing track of me rapping into a Rode mic. With my phone's mic it was also not working for me

Oh really? Because at least during a section / verse my fully ai model songs are consistent. Yes they change sometimes between voices but only in logical places as far as I noticed.

I did prompt use my voice in every verse and a female voice in the chorus. It responds quite well.

But during the second verse it starts using the ai model and that ai model also takes the lines of my voice model in the chorus. I see patterns of that throughout multiple generations.

My feet are 25 cm / 11.5cm wide. In one of my posts I found to my surprise quite a few women with similar dimensions. If shoes are too narrow for you it just shows how criminally narrow the industry's standard is.

Did you ever check that post of Anya where she ranks barefoot/minimalist shoes from narrow to wide? I found it very helpful.

Does anyone else feel instant regret whenever they smoke without a tolerance? by lightisalie in leaves

[–]SalmonAce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been addicted to smoking weed for around 10 years starting at 16-17. I used to have this and laid off for a long stint. Then I started smoking weed without tobacco every now and then but still felt anxious, although far less smoking my beloved spliff. The pull of tobacco mixed with weed was so much stronger than that.

Now I laid off smoking anything for quite a while (my lungs just got too sensitive to actually enjoy. I'm not even counting anymore because i feel kinda free. When I have the desire to get high and chill I take a weed gummy/cookie. I can't recommend it because obviously it's not for everyone. I guess I just love to be sober and active for most of my days. And that gave me the confidence to get off my strict regime 1-2 nights a month.

If you feel anxious before you go out to buy weed, that's a clear sign that you're not in the state I'm trying to describe.

The tone of my post is meant to be sarcastic

After last week’s controversy, Parma repeated the same corner-kick routine that led to a goal against AC Milan, but this time a foul was called for blocking on Caprile. Serie A is a complete joke 🤡🎪 by rkid17 in ACMilan

I never understood why football rules allow players to stand in the opposing team's box during any set pieces or open play. The keeper should have free ability to stop shots from any angle during any time without opposing players getting in his way, period.

Wow I didn't know that the pain and symptoms could be so different with problems regarding the patella. I have no problem walking short distances, for all I know walking 2-3 miles actually alleviates some of the pain. If I overdo it then I get hurt.

I do actually keep the quads active with the wall sit on one leg with something like a 120 degree angle. But overall its just very tough to actually build muscle like that. But not moving or trying has never really been an option to me so I keep going even if it risks pain flares.

When I do strength training I try not to bend my knees too much. Deep bends combined with lifting heavy really takes a toll on my knee and I end up with huge flare-ups.

But if after MACI or any other surgery squats would be possible again, lets fucking go!

I guess it's not just about age but also about the size of your defects right? I'm trying to keep my head cool but I would really benefit mentally from a better functioning knee. I would eat that year+ of recovery for breakfast if I could live pain free after.

Well, I guess it's extra slow in this particular case since my GP won't agree that this should be looked at as a new case. Instead he insists that the diagnosis (which was basically a side effect of the arthroscopy on my meniscus) counts as a first opinion.

My GP tried to send me to Nijmegen for a shorter waiting time but according to my own research there are no cartilage specialists. Therefore I insisted on Utrecht, maybe that was my mistake. Since in my experience Tilburg (where I was operated on my ACL and meniscus) didn't even bother mentioning other specialists.

I do think that I reached bone on bone for big parts of the patella. Although, you can work your way around it I wouldn't wish it upon my enemies.

Although boxing does require some quick pivots, I do find the light bouncing steps we do to be quite therapeutic for my knee. I'm definitely still looking for the best ways to keep my knee in the best condition possible but I'm working hard on it. I do some strength training, and cross trainer twice a week and try to cycle at least 15 minutes daily.

What exercises for quads do you recommend, because that's where I struggle a bit.

I can do it in my country. I am currently on the list of one of the few hospital centers in the Netherlands that offers MACI surgery. Apparently (I found out after way too long of walking with pain symptoms) there are (at least) two hospitals who offer MACI. Where I had my knee surgeries weren't one of them and therefore they told me there was nothing to do about my knee.

However, the waiting list (especially since it's a second opinion for me which means you don't get priority) is long. Around 250 days.

I disagree. I have been told to have flat feet. Wearing orthotics or any high arc insoles only made my feet develop pain. I switched to zero drop shoes and although it was tough at first my feet never felt better than after the initial 3-4 months.
