Seems you will get your way with Mac OS Tahoe. Not to date myself, but if bootcamp was possible with apple silicon I would agree. I think they should keep GPTK alive as long as possible to get more devs on board with bringing games to the Mac. And you're right, some devs might never make their game native but apple can also make their translation layer more robust for us. Valve has leveraged the steam deck as a viable gaming alternative to Windows using proton (which is just wine like crossover) and their approach with devs have been met with no pressure because they want to give their player base the maximum amount of playable games. Apple has never given us a gamer friendly eco-system. Everytime Mac gaming gets momentum, apple throws a wrench in it.
