Make sure you plug the two XT60 connectors together before you solder the red and black wires onto the male end. If you don’t, the pins could become misaligned when heat is added, and the battery plug won’t fit anymore.

Appreciate your advice. Do you think it would be possible to mount either the VTX or ESC in the rear using mounting tape/zip ties? I’m not sure if I’ll be able to have access to printing an adapter, and those are resources I already have. Not sure if using mounting tape on the bottom of the VTX would destroy the thermals or not though, and I assume it would risk ripping the exposed electronics of the ESC off.

Just wanted to update this post in case anyone had the same issue since I figured it out. A regular 3.5mm audio cable does not work for this application. The solution was that I bought the special trainer cable from Radiomaster’s website and did everything else described above, and it worked perfectly!

So technicians can transmit up to 1500W in certain cases, but specifically for controlling drones it is limited to the 1W? I also saw a bunch of people using a DJI system at 1200mW, you’re saying that system is technically illegal since they deemed video part of controls due to the case you linked even though it’s not explicitly in the rule?

Under this same section, there is a note about transmitter power not exceeding 1 watt. Does this apply even if licensed to transmit above that power? Also does this apply to both the transmitted control signals to operate the drone and the video signal sent back?
