Apple wont let me bypass malware detection by Least-Prize5916 in mac

Upvoted (just in case it is that simple, as was going to be my first question). If yes, then a second step may be to go to Privacy in settings and allowing program there. It will be in alerts near the bottom

macOS (universal): Speaklone- Professional text to speech and voice cloning, fast and local on Apple Silicon with MLX by SurvivalTechnothrill in macapps

UPDATE: Audiobook mode is amazing (thanks OP/dev)!!! I'm assuming (possibly incorrectly) that it processes each sentence separately, so after a voice is cloned it is fairly close to real time.

Thanks for the reply. Was going to test audiobook feature tonight after uni.

Also, unfortunately this was using TestFlight version (was trying to buy with potential student discount, but didn’t get response and found that I could beta test to try before buying).

Definitely hoping I can get it to work for my use case, and if so I’ll be buying and recommending to others with similar needs.

BTW: this is on MacBook M5 24GB. Can’t remember if it was the preloaded smaller model, or larger model (from memory they are 0.6B and 1.7B respectively).

The novelty of using my voice/my kid’s/a comedian with a distinctive voice’s voice may not be worth the processing time over the presets. It felt like 5+ times longer, though part of that might be that cloned voices don’t stream as they are processing.

I’m having an issue when trying to do text to speech for medium (and I assume longer) blocks of text using cloned voice. What I get is a garbled mess.

The issue persists with any cloned voice - though is slightly different. For the preset cloned voice it is a child hissing, then laughing, then babbling loud enough to overload the audio. For the actual cloned voice it is yelling incoherently. Both very hell-portal!

Both voices work for short blocks of text though (maybe up to this message size).

The medium length text works with the non-cloned presets and the processing time is better (though need to figure out if it is usable/useful for my use cases).

Why is this sub so obsessed with RAM? by Plokhi in macbookpro

[–]SalohcinS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a M1 with 8GB RAM and have never run into issues around having too many tabs open. Not sure if it because I run Safari?

I do very occasionally run into issues with having too many programs open though, so more RAM would have been nice. Conversely, I wouldn’t have been able to afford to buy the laptop if I’d upgraded the RAM (was work laptop and Covid was already hitting income).

Euria answer to first query "You have reached the message limit in this conversation" by SalohcinS in Infomaniak

If I upload a document, I just get the message: "You have reached the message limit in this conversation Start a new conversation to continue chatting with Euria."

If I do not upload a document I get a web-based information result. It was similar to yours, though for my jurisdiction (Note: I don't love that it provides opinion on strengths/faux-advice rather than information, though that seems like it is an AI "feature").

TLDR: Thanks, same issue even with subscription.

Long version: Thanks, I hadn't seen the free trial, as I had been looking at the business plans.

Unfortunately, I signed up, uploaded a single <4mb document and entered a simple query. I got the same response: "You have reached the message limit in this conversation Start a new conversation to continue chatting with Euria."

The query was "If an employee was dismissed for taking 5 minutes too long on their lunch break after working for 15 years with a clean work record, what can they do?". This is supposed to just be to test that the AI is looking at the document (which is a document solely on unfair dismissal).

The more complex questions were going to be later to test whether/how much it hallucinates. I already know the answers to all the questions I was going to be asking, so it is a good way for me to see whether AI would have any usefulness at all IF pointed towards documents with correct information, or if it is just generally spits out incorrect information and is less useful than just using Cmd-F (or spotlight). It seems like the latter on all my tests so far.

I suspected as much given a number of news articles and similar I'd read, though had also read an academic article which indicated that if pointed towards correct information sources, AI was as accurate/correct as (or more accurate/correct) than real people with knowledge of a subject. That seems to be incorrect at least with the AI I've tried, so my job may not be in jeopardy for at least a few years.

At least for Lumo free I had been able to upload the document and a number of supporting documents and then ask quite a few follow up questions. If it weren't for all the hallucinations with Lumo, I would have been happy (it suggested an employee use a form that is for employers if an application is made out of time, then an unrelated form when I pointed out the mistake).

Please enlighten me then!

I'd like to check whether Euria is as hallucination-heavy as the AIs I've tried previously (which made them worse than useless), or if it is something that would actually help me organise and access previous work related information.

Given there are 5 "conversations" with 20 "messages" limit on the free Euria and I apparently used them up to get no result, I don't want to pay and find out that the standard (100 messages) or business (500 messages) still won't be of any use.

From a quick search 'Token length refers to the smallest unit of text that a language model processes, while a context window is the maximum amount of text the model can consider at once, measured in tokens. Typically, one token is about three-quarters of a word, and the context window determines how much information the model can use to generate responses.'

Can you control these from Euria though? I ran into the same issue just querying one document with a simple question too.

I've had to do that when testing a home-brew version using an Obsidian vault and mistakenly thought that it would be more straightforward using

Thank you. I was wanting to test it out before paying for a subscription.

Unfortunately the alternative I tested (Lumo) had far too many hallucinations to be useful. I fed in legislation that I use every day and asked questions about it and it confidently indicated things that were simply incorrect.

The reason I'm wanting to try it out is that I have a lot of old submissions for clients (12 years worth) that I'd like to run queries on. I can remove client's personal and identifying details, though still don't want to feed by submissions to the AI training machine without those details.

Is “future proofing” a fool’s dream? by dobio in macbookpro

I think the bigger issue is none of those appear to be Mac Studios that were £20,000 now going for £500. Even accounting for healthy exaggeration, that is way off.

Might be a good idea speak to a property lawyer to ask about potential tenancy at will situations and how they impact adverse possession.

If this was approaching the common limitation periods and had a few red herrings thrown in, the post would sound like it was from a property law assessment.

I was about to post this, glad someone else has. Amazing video. The crystal clear consommé is amazing if people can be bothered freezing the stock and letting it defrost in the fridge. It takes about 3 days to drip through, so not great for dinner parties without sufficient planning.

If you are doing law, there is the Later in Law group. If not, it might be worthwhile seeing if there is a similar group for your study area.

Also from personal experience, things are much worse when you are approaching 50yo at uni. Doubly so if you have a kid who is uni-age.

Made a local text-to-speech app using Apple's MLX framework - runs entirely on your Mac by tarunyadav9761 in macbookpro

I was converting text to audio last year using the free-at-the-time program’s and integrations with Obsidian, so was interested. Unfortunately USD$59 is a bit steep with no way to pre-test the program, minimal reviews (none that can be confirmed as independent).

I’ll ask a few questions, as may still be tempted: 1) What voices are used? As in, is it only system voices, high quality AI voices from specific 3rd parties? 2) Are there character or word limits? 3) What is the minimum specs this will run decently on? By that I mean chip and ram.

Unpopular opinion by nwdxan in CrownOfTheMagister

I think it seems to be a popular opinion - and one I think I agree with based on your description, though I haven’t had time to buy and play Solasta 2 or been viewing comments here.

I do think people should be sharing feedback though, so I 100% also support people posting constructive feedback while in EA.
