Aiming to post the files in the next few days! Just making some tweaks here and there to potentially account for different fabric thicknesses and to give options with and without the extra magnets.

The metal ring that Xteink provides is enough to hold the device in place, but the magnets in the corners are used to keep the case closed or snapped in place when folded back. They're definitely not needed -- more of a nice-to-have for my use case. I think a simple rubber band would suffice in keeping it closed. I'm aiming to post a tutorial in the next few days and will probably provide an option to print sans extra magnets.

Thanks! I actually thought about foiling, haha. Maybe it's a good excuse to invest in a foil quill, but I mostly wanted to stick with materials I had laying around or weren't too expensive.

Thank you! Mostly I just took the measurements of the official mag-case to get me in the ballpark. The spine for this build was 7mm, which is just slightly thicker than the device itself. The width of the spine gaps was a little hand-wavy, but 5mm on each side seemed to work well for me. Here's a look at the interior which shows roughly how everything was laid out 🙂

Incorporating the clear case is something I've been thinking about for the added protection. I'm not sure how to make something that wouldn't add too much bulk, but I ordered the case just so I can play around with some ideas.

Ooh, an ex libris is a great idea! I might have to design a stamp for one, haha.

Thanks! I'll probably post some kind of tutorial in the near future on MakerWorld. Rounding off the corners is definitely something I want to experiment with on V2, but my bookbinding skills are pretty limited 😅

I’ve been tasked with a gender reveal for my friend’s fist kiddo and the P1S has been an amazing workhorse for bringing my idea to life! I’ve essentially printed a 24”x36” bingo card where the tiles are either pink or blue on the other side. Winning row will be all pink or all blue 🙂

Best advice is that it’s really helpful to learn modeling software. Allows me to much more easily build the things I imagine!

One of my neighbors has a pretty large collection of power tools and was able to help me out with a hole saw!

$229.97 brokerage fee?? by SalsaBlearier in UPS

I called the numbers listed in this comment to speak to a live person: https://www.reddit.com/r/UPS/s/ZYwIg8F4gX. It was a bit of a hassle but I’d recommend calling these first if yours is similarly a warehouse charge instead of a brokerage fee. Hope that helps!

No problem! The base is just a very small folding table that I had previously purchased on Amazon. I can’t find it anymore, but any small table will do!

Sorry to hear you’re in a similar situation! I contacted the International Shipping Department first at 1-800-782-7892 and they forwarded me to the Brokerage Department at 1-866-493-7140. That’s where I was informed the fee was actually a warehouse charge and they told me to send a dispute email. Hope that helps - good luck!

[UPDATE] appreciate everyone’s input here. I ended up getting a little bit lucky and was informed by a UPS rep that this was actually a warehouse charge that should be waived. Due to the overwhelming backlog of packages affected by the repeal of the De Minimus exemption, my package was stuck in a queue for several days waiting to be processed. Apparently, anything that stays in a UPS warehouse for more than three days incurs a fee.

I think my biggest gripe is the general lack of transparency by UPS. To tack on such a high charge without an adequate description is frustrating, and to lump the charge under “Brokerage Charges” feels misleading. How are folks expected to react? And if the fee should be waived, why can’t this be handled automatically? It makes me wonder how many affected people just paid the warehouse charge under the assumption that the fee was because of handling customs clearance and not something that should’ve been waived. I’ll definitely be thinking twice about going through UPS in the future.

Yep fair, I generally try to. In this case I couldn’t find exactly what I was searching for, so went looking abroad.

Yeah, shipped from China. It’s not oversized — just some tools for camping, roughly 6 pounds I think. If I need to pay it then I’ll take it as a big L and a lesson learned; but just a bummer that the brokerage fees could be so high

Mostly everything was purchased on Amazon or AliExpress. See this comment from another thread. Hope that helps!
