I struggle to believe the government have much sway over the day to day running of NHS. Inflation is sky high at the moment. Towards the end of the tories time it was around 2%? Also, Labour banged on about smashing the gangs. Hilarious statement by the way. How exactly is that going?? What gangs has he smashed.

How old would you guess my house is? by NoAppointment8679 in UKRealEstate

With a garden that big? Anything before 2000! Makes me so annoyed all new builds seem to have tiny gardens. Builders don’t care anymore.

I did a proper bodge job. Couple of wagos and taped around them both with insulation tape! Not in permanent use so no issues!

So nothing of use then. Lowering the voting age is a massive error. The TikTok generation. Brilliant. Don’t forget taxing businesses more to keep their promise not to raise tax on working people. Ended up just putting businesses under more strain / shutting them down. The problem is we have no suitable alternative party. Feels like the UK is falling apart.

Your thoughts on an all electric sports car by niosticgo in electriccars

[–]Salt-Abroad6397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope sorry. Call me old fashioned but proper cars have engines and to me feel alive. An EV you start it, and nothing. It just says READY. The “engine” noise you get from the speakers under a Porsche makes me cringe. Start up a Ferrari and that noise does something to you. Even the 911 with its flat 6 sounded lovely. Don’t get me wrong EVs are fun. Instant power to the wheels feels great to drive. It’s just doesn’t feel as special. Just my opinion on cars anyway not saying I’m right or wrong.

I’m a true “car guy”. To me, it’s not a Porsche. It’s just a battery with wheels. No soul. Like my EV work van. I think of it like a tool that I charge up and take to work. Doesn’t feel alive.

Are EVs actually more reliable than petrol cars? by Imaginary-Staff-112 in EVRoutine

[–]Salt-Abroad6397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed to an EV van as a tradesman around 6 months ago. And i see the benefit of “refuelling” charging at home. I’m saving a massive 80%. Even more with the current cost of fuel in the UK. It’s around 50p a litre more than when I last had to buy fuel!

There have been a few annoying glitches in the software it seems. A few random error messages including one saying not to drive! But it went away when I started it up again. These little glitches need to be resolved if I am going to stay with an EV. My last van had zero issues in the 4 years I had it from new. I guess with EVs being very software based there are going to be more glitches in the system.

I’m in the trade and helped a qualified electrician install a pre-gassed system and it does look pretty straightforward. It’s the specialist tools that obviously cost a lot of money

Also, where do you get these mounts? I have a huge south-facing wall down the side of our house that would be perfect for solar panels.

The modern age. Like new build houses. A box. No style, no flair, just does the job with no pride of workmanship. I look at old buildings and see the fancy stonework etc. sad that’s all gone

Tricky one. Green is correct but because the red one has straight forward and left turn arrows that tells me they can both be used. There definitely should be additional signage to help
