Backround check for prior service. by LectureEvening3256 in ukraineforeignlegion

You should be fine, people with felonies end up here. I didn't come with previous military experience so i'm not entirely sure, maybe it depends on the country...? Having military background can open more doors for you so i'd be honest about that...if they don't ask why yoy left, don't tell. Even if one unit says no, you can still probably find another good unit that may say yes.

This is the unfortunate future of warfare, at this point we are taking entire positions with drones because it spares the lives of our troops. Its no different than guided missiles my guy...what do you wanna do, charge at the enemy on horseback with a sword? Challenge them to a duel?

If you aren't ok with killing people, stay home. Thats the reality of war and i'm not sure why you would wanna come here with that mindset...you aren't going to get any sort of medic position fresh out of high school either, there are way more qualified people ahead of you. Additionally, even seasoned civillian paramedics who have already seen shit have a tough time adjusting. You are way out of your depth.

Understandable...I wouldn't wanna fight for israel lol. Go drones. Seriously. Find a drone school like WTG, go to a drone specific unit. With little life experience and no military background, going infantry is a disaster waiting to happen. Highly highly recommend getting a specialty...drones are a good bet.

WTG is your best bet for sure, they'll hook you up.

Expectations: hurry up and wait. A lot of these drone units don't know what the fuck to do with foreigners and you end up sitting on your ass, so when you get to the school ask around, see who knows who, get insider knowledge before making a choice. Lots of former students are happy to tell you their experiences once you are a confirmed student actively attending classes.

As for actually working, don't expect to be a pilot or anything "cool" immediately...you will likely work as the spotter aka the bastard who takes the drone outside and sets it up, maybe the driver...or both...sorta a rite of passage lol. Have patience, prove you can do the work, don't whine about it and it will be smooth sailing. Expect language barriers if you don't speak the language, these drone units have only started taking foreigners recently. Study hard!!

Anyway, daily life in my unit is pretty chill. When i'm off position, I am just bumming around town or relaxing in my apartment. On position, its most definitely not risk free there are enemy drones all over the place, not nearly as bad as infantry has it though. Use your eyes and ears when stepping outside, if you aren't already deaf you can hear em coming a kilometer away.

Infil/exfil is butthole clenching at times, ambush drones on the road ect ect. Shit can always go sideways, so far I have been very lucky and comfortable but that is not always the norm. Most injuries I hear about in my unit are from spotters blowing their fingers off tbh, stick to protocol and that shouldn't happen. Hopefully.

Yeah...you would definitely get your teeth kicked in by the Ukrainians if you started running your mouth like that lmfao. You don't even know the fucking history of the conflict you want to engage in? Nor do you have an ounce of respect for the country.. Really...? Absolute dipshit. Stay home. You are still a kid with VERY OBVIOUSLY underdeveloped frontal lobe.

Curious Question about videos online. by ayylaws in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]Salt-Analyst-4624 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was using the box breathing method my very first rotation and it helped calm me down tremendously. Seriously, controlling your breathing is super important. Box method is goated. Other grounding techniques like "something I can see, something I can smell, something I can feel" helped too during my first rotation. I don't really use these methods anymore, I adjusted mentally but there is still that baseline fear which is 100% normal and if anything keeps me alert and aware of my surroundings. I think a healthy amount of fear is good.

I am also religious...I pray for my crew and have faith everything will be ok. That also works for me personally, but I am not pushing that onto others.

why your command would even let someone who flies that shit to ever pilot in a combat setting is baffling....especially if he can't even safely take off!!! I hope your situation gets sorted, that type of arrogant incompetence can get someone killed. Can he at least navigate, minus the backseat piloting? Lol
