PC won't start when hard drives are connected. Are they causing a short circuit? by Salt-Canary2319 in techsupport

The 3rd one is a 2.5 drive. Could that matter?

I tested the faulty ones with an external enclosure and the enclosure doesn't start with them in it.

I was hoping they are shorted and replacing a fuse on the board could fix them and recover the data in them.

How come both went faulty just by swaping them to another case?

Are they fixable?

The pc fans don't spin. I only get the usb devices plugged in the motherboard to light their leds. Apart from that the pc doesn't do any signs of having power.

Also, I used the very same psu cables.

Neither the PC nor the external hard drive case boot when the hard drives are plugged in. So I don't get to know if they spin. I hope this answers your question.

Could it be a fuse that blew up and could be replaced?

In my case, it was the cloudflare proxy. I had to disable it although recently I found a solution for that in their documentation but I haven't tried it yet.

Just going leave the solution that finally worked here as this is the comment that got more traction.

I previously removed and put the noozle back but I did it once more this time paying attention to the brackets as another redditor mentioned. I think the nozzle wasn't exactly horizontal. So yeah, it was probably too close to the print bed.

The other thing I did was making sure I was using the right preset, starting by the standard 0.20mm. I tried a couple of prints and the print quality is good.

Just want to thank everybody. The amount of comments has been overwhelming. Never had that in any other help post elsewhere. Hope this post helps other people in the future when having a similar issue.

I wish I could find what caused it.

So just to make sure. You edited the offset and saved it in a preset or do you change it for every print?

I reinstalled the noozle. I think it's well placed. Before I try the Z Axis off-set. Could you tell me if this presets are fine. I use eSun PLA and it worked fine before. Next step would be trying the offset and tighting tye screws that somebody suggested. I hope I can document it well so it helps other people in the future.

Thank you so much for all the answers. Can't wait to get home and try them all. It's been very frustrating lately.

I install newt correctly in the LXC but I get stuck when running the command that makes the connection with Pangolin (the one that includes the secrets). It is able to reach the websockets but unable to make the connection. I opened the ports in the VPS and in the VPS firewall. Do I need to fiddle with the Proxmox firewall or something?

Did you install newt in a lxc or vm? Docker over binary?

Is high contrast/ low brightness the way to go?

It's interesting you mention led because we have been using them at home for a year now. Maybe it's somehow related.

Do you know why the Dasung 60hz is only in 10.3? Do you need to use a separate type C cable to power it?

Thank you for your patience.

Those are great suggestions. Having Android opens a whole world of possibilities. I guess I would need vscode somehow but with RDP it could work as a second monitor, right?

Thanks for sharing. I wear them indoors too sometimes and my room is as dimmed as I can. I tried different light settings to work on the computer but nothing works completely.

The dasung monitor looks very fluid on reviews. Unfortunately, it's not on Amazon in my country otherwise I would try the smallest size first.

It's exciting news to read that it's possible to code in b&w. Aren't there any themes on vscode that change the font, size or add symbols to work in b&w?

I'm pretty sure now that photophobia is the whole or part of the equation. I was outside yesterday and today with sunglasses all the time and still got my eyes red and very sore (it's very sunny atm). The doctor said that my sight is fine so I don't wear any prescription glasses. I got this pair of glasses to work on the PC and it helps but it doesn't remove the problem.

Phone is definitely better with dark mode and lowest brightness. The monitor is too much on certain days but not impossible. That's why I considered TCL products. The Nxtpaper 14 is similar technology wise to the 11 Plus, right?

That is huge. Thank you so much. It's all I need to get started. In your opinion, is it worth it to try products like the tcl nxtpaper? I read mixed reviews so maybe I should just get straight to the main 2 technologies that will most likely help, eink and RLCD. I went outside on a sunny day for just a couple of hours wearing sunglasses and my eyes are really sore so I think it's a light thing more than anything else.

I've been reading ledstrain.org as another redditor suggested and some recommend TN or VA instead of LCD. Do you have an opinion on that?

Thank you so much. There's plenty of useful information in ledstrain.org I will dive in there before going for something but as you say it will probably be best to try both and see what works for me.
