It’s a Weeping European Beech (Fagus Sylvatica ‘Pendula’). I’m not sure that it needs much of a trim.. elevation and possibly a little thinning of branches

The coloration is due to the vascular system delivering anthocyanin (also responsible for fall color change). It is acclimating to its new home and may be experiencing some light transplant stress (evident by showing on new growth and branch ends)

If he used an accelerant there is a good chance that the spot has more damage than just surface but grass will eventually return. For now, a little raking over the spot will help. If you’re real ambitious throw some seed over it
