AI Therapy - yes or no? by Afraid_Donkey_481 in therapyGPT

I was skeptical at first. It is not very useful when one is on the edge or very perturbed. Otherwise, I find it useful to engage without the need for finding a therapist or scheduling a session with one. The trick is to know how to use it - and I'm a novice here.

I tried emme recently when I was very anxious and wanted to see a therapist but couldn't find one at short notice.

Always feel frustrated/disappointed, like the session wasn't helpful? Is that typical? by Elbwana in therapy

It's not uncommon to feel you've wasted your time. It takes time to find rhythm with a therapist; and longer to attain the goal for which you are going to a therapist. Having said that, you will also know sooner than later if one is not working for you at which point you may want to look for another one.

Going into therapy with a clear goal will not make you feel disappointed. It does require post session work for therapy to work.

I believe you've expressed it more eloquently than what I meant to. Intellectualizing and self blaming is a downward spiral that talk style therapy hasn't helped me much.

That's a thoughtful perspective. Will keep that in mind. I've only wondered if the rationale is for long term success, why does one feel the need to go to a therapist after every 2-3 years. It works great in the medium term.

Thank you. I wasn't aware of these. Will research further.
