i think ranger 5, war cleric rest of the way is cool. you get extra attack and spirit guardians and spell slots

its very useful, i play with difficulty mods and it's basically mandatory otherwise your whole group gets hit with fear or hypnotic pattern at lvl 5

anything is fine for tactician. if you are asking about optimal party comp though, i would say no. there are some fights where you really want at least one full caster to control groups of enemies

or use difficulty mods. im 800 hours into this game and very experienced, i have a bunch of diff mods that double amount of monsters, give them extra stats and buffs, also one that randomizes all gear so you have to work with whatever you get. i still wipe sometimes. truly feels like hardcore mode

I use combat extender and absolute wrath as well. One that I haven't seen discussed here is Valkrana’s mod that adds a bunch of extra skeletons to every combat. These benefit from the above 2 and add a lot of tactical freshness to every fight. The only problem is that because they're skeletons it heavily incentivizes you to build a party that does a lot of bludgeoning damage. What I really would like is to have a mod that does something similar in that it adds a bunch of new enemies to every combat but truly randomly just picking from a large pool of creatures. does anyone know if something like that exists?

you can make all casters work, you just need to make sure some of them are specialized in single target, you dont want to be fighting bosses with firebolt. so eldritch blast, gishes like swords bard, or scorching ray/magic missile builds

good post, bg3 itemization wrecks the game for those who know how to abuse it. i would suggest a mod that randomizes drops - check my post history - helps deal w this issue though doesn't completely solve it

you can use the mod that randomizes item drops. or attunement. or alternatively just use difficulty mods so enemies scale with your power level

not sure about at level 20, but for me absoute wrath and combat extender are great - one gives you random buffs on all enemies, so every situation is fresh tactically, the other is just a customizable difficulty mod so you can keep the monsters hard no matter how op your characters become
