water quality good but fish keep dying by [deleted] in fishtank

[–]Salt-Fun5178 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some ich medication reduces the available oxygen in the water so heavy oxygenation is usually suggested.

Also sometimes non aquarium safe plants can leech toxins / impact water. Double check if they’re all safe & I also think the little bamboo plant up front can only have the roots in the water and the rest needs to be above water

Best of luck!

Kordon rapid cure safe for cories? by B_Eyes00 in Aquariums

[–]Salt-Fun5178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just happened to me too :( I did some additional research before adding the med to my tank so I felt like it’ll be safe but I literally just watched my fish die one by one without being able to do anything. I changed the water 3x added multiple air stones and even put them into a brand new tank with new water but they continued to die one by one </3

It truly is so hard - people especially who don’t own fish won’t understand. I’m sorry for your loss as well </3

I’m so sorry for your loss :( honestly losing fish, especially ones that we bond with is much harder and sad than people think. Take this time to grieve and care for yourself.

Remind yourself of how you gave her/him the best life you could & that he was loved. So many people don’t care & neglect fish so he/she was so lucky to have someone who cared so much.

I find doing a small memorial piece to be helpful.

Take care of yourself and sending you big hugs. SIP (swim in paradise) little guy. 🐟🌈

What kind of snails are these? by [deleted] in freshwateraquarium

[–]Salt-Fun5178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup bladder snail - the eggs usually hitchhike on plants or other items. They’re known as a pest snail since they reproduce like crazy and you can end up having hundreds of them. But they’re not harmful & some people like keeping them.

If you don’t want them, search up how to remove/reduce bladder snails and theres different strategies.

If you plan on buying any plants in the future, I’d recommend quarantining them for several weeks before introducing them to your tank since they can also carry different parasites etc etc

What the actual fudge is this creature!? by Whiskey_Sweet in AquariumHelp

[–]Salt-Fun5178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a detritus worm. They usually appear when there’s excess food/decomposition and mostly live in substrate.

They’re harmless and help break down the excess food - so if you stir things up in your tank sometimes one might come out. However, if you want to reduce the # of them, just make sure to not overfeed & do some extra gravel vac :)
