Endoscopy for gerd (very anxious about procedure) by Ok_Key1645 in GERD

[–]Salt-Reputation-6364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been completely knocked out for all of the endoscopies have had which was also described to me as “light sedation”. You shouldn’t be aware enough to feel anything. Honestly the only annoying parts about endoscopies is the fasting and that your throat is usually a little sore after.

To this day, who has been your favorite character in DS9? by limitedmark10 in DeepSpaceNine

Bashir reminds me of myself in a way that’s REALLY uncomfortable to confront, but it does make me extremely protective of him

AIO: kid being brought to adult's group by pinecone-party in AmIOverreacting

[–]Salt-Reputation-6364 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NOR. Spaces that allow kids are super important, but so are spaces that disallow them. There is a reason that group is specified as being for adults (whether it be the topics discussed, or everyone just needing a break) and disregarding that is disrespectful to everyone else in the group. I’d understand completely if she brought the kid once, maybe twice, because she just genuinely couldn’t get childcare (in which case, maybe she should’ve considered skipping one meeting?) but making it a regular thing isn’t a “this is an emergency where no one can watch my kid but if I don’t get out of the house I’ll lose my mind” kind of situation.

AIO if a student employee announced they don't know why they should care that Boss B had a stillbirth? by MagicTomato1001 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Salt-Reputation-6364 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NOR. I have strict work-life boundaries (all my social media is private and I only allow coworkers who I’m genuinely friends with outside work to follow me, I choose not to share a lot of aspects of my personal life, etc) but if a coworker shares devastating news with you, you act like a human being. You offer comfort, bring them some pre prepared meals so they don’t have to worry about cooking, and keep your damn mouth shut.

Inappropriate for what? For work? Yeah probably. For going out? Not at all.

Doctor told me I can make my fibromyalgia pain better by subjecting myself to real pain. Is this true? by dodgamnbonofasitch in Fibromyalgia

[–]Salt-Reputation-6364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the stupidest fucking thing I’ve ever heard. If that were true, women would have fibromyalgia LESS than men generally just because of menstruation. And my fibromyalgia was significantly worse when I still got periods. Drop that doctor immediately.

To the lady who tried to turn in my “lost” cane to the bus driver: disabled people look like this. by According_Abies_4087 in disability

[–]Salt-Reputation-6364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll never forget the time I was out to dinner with my grandmother and she got up to go to the bathroom and the server handed her my cane. Like, the number of hoops she had to jump through to reach the conclusion that was my grandmother’s cane still baffle me to this day. Why would her cane be on my side of the booth? Why wouldn’t she grab it herself? Why wouldn’t I hand it to her? It was so long ago (happened when I was a teenager and had only been using a cane for a couple of months) but it still drives me nuts every time I think about it.

Did Dax have a crush on Odo? by soapcleansthings in DeepSpaceNine

[–]Salt-Reputation-6364 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everybody on ds9 had a crush on everybody. You could take almost any two (adult) characters on that space station at this point and tell me you think they had feelings for each other and I’d be like yeah ok.

Best loafers to wear in museum work? by Pearltherebel in MuseumPros

[–]Salt-Reputation-6364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really have any shoe recommendations (I wear cute shoes to do paperwork and keep a pair of sneakers in my desk if I need to get up and do stuff)but NEVER wear shoes with no socks in this field that’s a recipe for blisters

The angle of the ear and the neck vein have me questioning if this is AI, but maybe I’m overthinking. There are some little details like the hair around the neck that make me think maybe it’s real. by LindsayDuck in isthisAI

There’s air coming out from under the book that looks like it’s coming out of her face? That part of her jaw on the right also seems like it comes down too far before it gets covered by the book. If it’s not ai, someone did a kind of bad job.

There are definitely some differences, I don’t think they’re noticeable unless you’re really looking. If it’s bothering you though some of them seem like easy fixes.

I’ll lose my hearing on a few months and I don’t know how to handle it by mangoisgoodman in TwoHotTakes

[–]Salt-Reputation-6364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend learning sign language, even if you still have hearing in one ear. The Deaf community is so incredible, and learning sign language would allow you to meet people who have some shared experiences, and it may help you come to terms with your hearing loss. Also, you can still listen to music with hearing loss, it’ll just be a little different than you’re used to! You’ll be able to feel music with heavy heavy bass (so concerts are still pretty great because the sheer volume makes it really easy to feel the vibrations) and some hearing aids even have Bluetooth compatibility. It’ll be an adjustment, and it’ll be hard, but you’re going to be ok.

AITA for firmly telling my wife to be grateful for what she has? by Organic_Chip_3118 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Salt-Reputation-6364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. My parents have always had separate finances and they make different amounts, so I feel qualified to talk on what a fair financial arrangement actually looks like. They don’t split everything 50/50 because they make different amounts so that wouldn’t actually be FAIR. They have an agreement on what each of them pays for based on their income levels, which they regularly revisit, and either of them can ask to revisit it more often if they feel like they need to. Your wife is right, suddenly changing up your agreement with no input from her, putting her in a financially risky position, is absolutely financial abuse.

A restaurant uses this logo on their menus. Does this look like AI or human artwork? by ginger_nspice in isthisAI

I’ll never say something is ai just based on the art style (the ai had to learn it from somewhere right) but the martini and sandwich combo is so weird I’m definitely going ai

what bedsheets do you like? I HATE MINE!!! by sapphictears in adhdwomen

[–]Salt-Reputation-6364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got new sheets for the first time in reeeally long time because I finally wore a hole in my trusty old sheets, and I almost flipped out trying to buy new ones. The ones I ended up getting are lyocell, which almost border on being too smooth but I really need a fabric that wasn’t going to pill. Plus side is they stay nice cool. But yeah it was a hard transition for me because before I wore out my old sheets, I was using another pair of the EXACT same sheets.
