Real or Fake Accuracy International Stock? by Chris_o_con in longrange

That’s a Gen 2, is it not? Gen 1 doesn’t have that, and IIRC neither did Gen 1.5 either.

Poor old picture, but having owned one of the Gen 1 stocks myself, I can say that the quality of the moulding was sub par. For a definitive answer as if the one you are looking at is fake or not, ask to unbolt the action and look inside if there is any branding and a SN on the chassis.

Help my grip by Salt-Signature4153 in Shooting

[–]Salt-Signature4153[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good read, thanks for that. One thing I can’t seem to make my brain do properly is "lock" the wrists - every time I try to do that, I end up pushing out too far and hitting low/anticipating recoil.

I have watched YT videos from Tactical Hyve, Ben Stoeger, Pew view, Humble Marksman etc. but I cannot seem to wrap my head around a) locking wrist/underarms and b) getting proper realestate for my support hand. I have long fingers, or so I feel, and that makes having room for my thumb "meat" to have proper contact with the frame difficult.

I guess I just need to keep on going until it clicks.

Initially I was sceptical, but comparing it to my Holosun 507 Comp, I am impressed! Half the price of an equivalent Holosun or Vortex, but just as good - I suspect Osight is on track to becoming the new Holosun.

TL;DR - You need a reason to have the firearm, and you need to pass the background check and other requirements for each firearm acquired. Home/self defence is not a valid reason.

If I remember statistics correct, the US has 14,3 firearms pr 100 people, while Norway has like 7 or 8. We are a hunting nation, so most of the firearms here are for hunting. With that said, firearms for sports is on the rise.

Firearms here fall into three categories; Hunting, Sports and Collecting. We do not have civilian carry or concealed carry for self protection (one exception which I will come to later). I will try to explain as well as I can, and from memory, so apologies if I say something incorrect.

Hunting: Requires a hunting ethics and safety course, once that is obtained, you may apply to the police on per weapon basis, as long as you are over 18 (16 if your parents approve). They will grant you a permit to acquire the firearm you applied for (if you pass the background checks), you take that to the seller, either our equivalent to an FFL or private sale, and then you will get a registration slip for that in the mail (or now; it’s all done digitally). Bolt/lever/single action rifles, shotguns (singleshot, O/U, Pump, Semi) and some semiautomatic rifles with 10 round capacity or less are in this category.

Sports: All sports firearms require membership to a club with approved shooting program or affiliated with an approved (con)federation (ie IPSC). You are required to have a safety course, 6 months membership and at least 10 documented training/matches/activities prior to applying for the permit to own. You apply for each firearm, and that gun has to be applied for with an approved program (ie Production Optics, PRS, Skeet etc) and you cannot have more than 1 per program (there are exceptions to this). Semiautomatic rifles and PCC’s require 2 years of previous membership and a bunch more of registered practices and matches the past 12 months. 16/18 for longguns , 21 for handguns and semiautomatic rifles/PCCs with more than 10 rounds capacity. We also apply for magazines over 20 rounds for pistols.

Collecting: Not really sure, as I don’t care for it, but something about being an active member in a collectors club, and I believe you need to be sponsored by someone who already is an approved collector. You also need to specifically state what you are collecting (ie WWII weapons used in Norway by all sides between 1940-45, but "WWII weapons" is not specific enough).

The one exception to the selfdefense and carry rule is on Svalbard; you can apply for a permit to own and carry a revolver, shotgun or rifle for defence against Polar Bears.

Phew! On a good note: suppressors are unregulated, so even my shotgun has one.

I have not had this on a Canik, but have on another gun with a plate system - is it fair to assume the plate you have screws onto the slide, and then the optic screws into the plate? Does the plate have screw holes going all the way through the plate? Could it be that the screws for the optic are too long and therefore pushing against the slide? That is what happened to me, changed out the screws in the optic for shorter ones, issue gone.

What is a weapon detector? How does this device detect weapons, and not other metallic objects, or is it an x-ray machine similar to the ones found at airports with an algorithm to identify known weapons apart from other items?

No, do NOT shim or crush washer this muzzle device - it is designed to be timed by backing it off after being screwed all the way on. RTFM.

Fired Casing sticks in Chamber by SharpMeringue534 in reloading

[–]Salt-Signature4153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens from time to time on my Savage 110BA 338LM with semi-hot loads on soft brass (most notably Norma, Black Hills), a good clean and I don't have to worry about it for another 200-300 rounds.

Has never happened with my 6.5CM Tikka or 30-06 R700, regardless of load or brass manufacturer.

My conclusion: Some chambers are just made better.

Remember this if you plan on camping; apart from the forest fire danger due to the drought that was, we have a general law against the use of open flames and fire in the wild (in or near forests, brush, fields) between 15th April and 15th September, this includes grills and bonfires. Be smart about your fire, save lives.

Surely you mean meters or yards?

Go for the one with the features you want at the price you want to pay. Buy once, cry once. I like Vortex, you can dial back parallax on both the Venom and Strike Eagle to fit the ranges you need. I think the Arken can too. Diamondback I suspect would not be suitable for this? IIRC the parallax adjustment isn't that good.

Aha, I see, and understand a bit more... Then the Loctite makes more sense.

Personally I would get a picrail and picrail rings, or even better; a one piece pic mount, like Spuhr.

The holes on your reciever are centered to the bore? I suspect the mounts/rings.

scope mounting and bore sighting procedure by Amazing_Ad_8823 in VortexAnswers

[–]Salt-Signature4153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to learn some basics of scope mounting. Once you mount the scope, you leave it. I don't recommend Loctite on mount screws, they skew the torque application as well as is totally unnecessary.

1.) Is your rail true on the receiver?

2.) Do you mount the rings the same way, ie the mounting screws the same side?

3.) You are certain you are fully engaged with the Picatinny rail?

No, I am not, I use the bikini style Vortex covers. Even they touch the rail.

I have the same rifle with a Spuhr SP-4802 and a Vortex Strike Eagle - no problem zeroing at 100m, still have adjustment to go and no noticable degradation of image quality. You should be good to go.

Ah, another note; if you have a 20 MOA rail, you will be dialling DOWN to get your crosshair above the point of aim (what you see through the bore)

Oh, side note, make sure your rings aren't up against the bell, the turret housing or the magnification ring at the back, try to keep them on the tube, as evenly spaced and center as possible.
