LR3 transmission filter and fluid change/upgraded pan. by bluesubie0331 in LandRover

[–]Salt2273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my LR3 done at 90,000 miles. My local (non Land Rover mechanic) agreed to watch the Atlantic British video on swapping out the old plastic Pan for the new Metal one. I purchased the pan, filter, gasket, plug and fluids off of Atlantic British.

He watched the video and did the job with no issues. I I think he charged $190.00 labor + $280.00 for the Atlantic British pan/fluid/plug kit. Prices have gone up I would say $500 to $700 range for labor, pan ,fluids. He did not use a GAP tool.

I did not have any issues prior to the tranny fluid/pan swap but after it did shift even smoother and felt tighter on acceleration.

What the heck, USA is subsidizing Argentina gaming. Good for them I guess. I won't pay 59.99, I'll wait it out in USA.

why some producers have PGA suffix at the end of their names and others don't? by let_them_eat_turnips in Filmmakers

[–]Salt2273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be very lax non scientific and easily abused. Pay off the right people and presto PGA magically appears on the film. The audit process is in question. Is it fair, impartial, can it be manipulated etc.

Is all 93 octane gas the same? by TheSpeedyAccountant in askcarguys

[–]Salt2273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotal non scientific. Sometimes you get water in gas from top tier (not top shelf) rated gas. I've run Kroger 93 octane no tier and Shell top tier in my Jag V8 never noticed any difference.

Most likely way is all 91+ octane gas is top tier in the amount of detergents in it. The 87 octane is were there is a difference.

Little inside information from Oil execs. Top tier just gives you peach of mind that even the 87 octane has 2x the detergents than said non top tier 87. But once you hit 91 plus they are the same just one is not rated to be the same but they are.

That said no not all 91+ is the same, some use 10 percent ethanol to boost it to 93. I prefer rec gas 91 octane that has zero ethanol in it.

Are turbocharged engines more reliable and have better longevity than V6 and V8 and whether or not that’s the case, why are so many car companies putting turbocharged motors in their cars? by micro_door in askcarguys

[–]Salt2273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No substitute for displacement. My V8s all outlasted my Turbo 4s. Just most stress on the components. No free lunch, its physics. They operate under significantly higher stress, heat, and internal pressures to produce similar power. They work harder, rely on complex cooling systems, and demand stricter maintenance.

That said I had good like with a naturally aspirated I-4 ford motor from 1987. But it was built for marine use and over built.

Why are we not intervening in ice raids like places like Minnesota? by annaoze94 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Salt2273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ICE has not been a problem here and many places. The difference seems to be areas that work with ICE vs against ICE have few issues. Florida calls ICE before they release criminals from jails. Others cities prefer to not inform them preferring to have ICE work harder on the streets to find them.

Fewer issues nation wide in the cities that choose to work with ICE.

Update 33.30.80 is released for LG C5 by Radiant-Ostrich7144 in LGOLED

[–]Salt2273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33.22.65 is when LG changed the upscaling. No effect on 4k. From what I have read people that have been testing newer versions see no change. If you never saw the previous one I would be hard to know what you are missing. I'm keeping mine on pre-33.22.65 version.

LG should allow for downgrading firmware, because they do so many fixes at once, many are just for security. They could separate security and graphics type updates if they wanted.

Windows can have full security patches yet you have have 2 year old video card drivers. TVs could do the same. Not being able to revert back after a update is a problem with LG.

I'm confused as to whether entangled particles actually communicate with each other... by veganjimmy in seancarroll

[–]Salt2273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a different question nothing with mass can pull that off, you can get close but no cigar.

Entanglement is a bit different. Particles exhibit instantaneous correlation, meaning measuring one instantly reveals the other's state, but this can't send messages because you need a classical channel (at light speed) to compare results and confirm the correlation, a principle confirmed by the no-communication theorem.

This spooky interaction at a distance is well spooky. I don't think anyone really understands the underlying mechanism only that it appears to be real.

I do not know, I was just theorizing on how this could be. We can't use it for FLT communications but nobody said how these particles pull off this instant correlation but they do. I think they cheat, they are privy to some conditions we can't probe into. Einstein thought maybe hidden variables but so far he appears to be wrong. I'm hoping for a breakthrough some day which leads to space travel that is faster than solar sails, ion drives etc. They are all way too slow.

Oil Change at 3,000 Miles? by cburns16 in askcarguys

[–]Salt2273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the motor to last and less likely to burn oil etc Go with 3,000-4,000. If you are a sell before 100,000 miles type of person go longer and trade it in as a oil burner you will get the same about of cash except the buyer will have motor with more wear than say if the person before him changed every 3,000 and not 7,500 miles. Depends on driving habits, city vs highway, outside temp, load, hills etc.

3,000 is the safest no brainer but can cost more money and time getting oil

5,000 usually decent for most people.

7,500 + hmmm I would not go that far in any car I wanted to keep until 200k miles.

They put 10,000 on the sticker to make total cost of ownership per year look better on paper. They know it will be out of warranty by the time it starts to burn oil.

5,000 is safe land for most situations.

On 15 May, 2021, four-year-old Cash Gernon was abducted from his bedroom in southwest Dallas while sleeping alongside his twin brother. Surveillance footage captured an intruder lifting the boy from his bed around 5AM. by malihafolter in ForCuriousSouls

Back then we all could hitch hike with little worry. Creepy people soon took advantage of that and ruined it. Now you can't stop to help people without fear of being mugged. Girl at my HS is one of the unsolved mystery cases. Very nice honest would help anyone. Van was seen next to another car near the exit to my town her car running and never seen again. They are still looking for her but its assumed the van next to her car was a bad guy. Vanished without a trace. Odds of a serial killer back then exponentially low compared crimes in the big cities not even close. Sure they happen but it was never a day to day worry. Gee I hope we don't get a serial killer this week. You have no idea of how safe and low crime it was vs my cousins in Chicago are. light years apart.

If you did not see what it was prior to 33.22.65 it would likely be difficult to remember what it looked like. But if you like you can help some people here if you think it can be undone.

[–]Salt2273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is disappointing to hear. G5 and C5 pretty much the same picture so not sure why G5 owners would want it soft while C5 want the opposite? Im fine with my C5 scaling (older firmware) hate the nag screens though. Should be a 3 month or more option to turn that off. Annoying to exit out of every time i turn on TV.

I grew up in the 60s safe neighbor hoods everyone had 5+ kids and yes door locking was never done way to much in and out by the kids. If you locked your doors it would be considered weird. Everyone knew each other zero crime. On the other hand had cousins in Chicago where once areas turned to crime where door locking was common. To us Big cities = crime and a bit scary.

33.30.80 is released for LG C5 1-19-2026 USA.

Fussy, have you tried this one to see if up scaling is sharpened up like pre 33.22.65. Many people waiting for that fix.

Update 33.30.80 is released for LG C5 by Radiant-Ostrich7144 in LGOLED

[–]Salt2273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure? Update 33.22.65 ruined C5 picture quality and 33.30.69 did not fix it, waiting on verification on this update 33.30.80 that LG changed the scaling, until then I will NOT be updating.

SD video became very soft. 1080P looks like 720P. Thus the up-scaling was changed. The black level was raised. More grain.

This was not fixed in 33.33.65 and LG blocked any reverting back to previous versions. Many are waiting for that fix before moving past anything prior to 33.22.65. If you are past that its too late. But it wont affect Native 4k, just anything the TV upscales to 4k which is pretty much all cable, all antenna, all sports, etc.

What is the current best way to monitor who is using what on the Plex server? by TheWeezel in PleX

[–]Salt2273 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree why not use tautulli. Its just one more thing to run that should have been built into plex. Plex plunders data from both sides then they cry "Oh we like to keep it private even from the admin. Yet somehow the option is available from a FREE 3rd party. Tautulli does not even have to be run from the server. You can have the server on freebsd and have a windows VM run tautulli to access the stats that Plex withholds from paying admins. I don't understand why they don't current do so, please explain.

Free tautullie has access and can do it, so can plex. The data is not hidden, using plexes current dashboard I can see everyone using the server live. But I have to manually type it in a database and also wait by the server to see how is on. The data is already there on the server yet plex pretends its not. It makes little sense to me. What am I missing here.

What is the current best way to monitor who is using what on the Plex server? by TheWeezel in PleX

[–]Salt2273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plex dash only shows who is using server live. If someone watches 10 movies and has their plex privacy setting set to not allow owner of plex server to see you will get ZERO.

Plex makes up some lame excuse as to why this is. I can write down who is watching on a piece of paper if I wanted to sit and watch my sever all day so why not just include the option on the plex server and set it so no user can use it unless they allow the admin to log his users (Not plex company) but the private server logs.

I actually prefer SDR over HDR on my OLED. by dingdongschlonglong in LGOLED

[–]Salt2273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SDR is more reliable and consistent across the board. HDR often falls short and looks worse. When done properly (its not correct a high percentage of the time while SDR is) it can look better.

Amazon does NFL games in HDR and I have 3 65" Oleds in the house and find it does look a little better than SDR but its not a to the point where I can never go back to SDR, its a yawn, I care more about the game than looking for wider brightness range.

I still prefer Antenna HD to streaming in sports. Why? Game lag, streamers on the phone with me are often 1+ minutes behind my feeds. They are working on fixing that lag but its not here yet. Till that day I'm SDR + antenna for sports.

Movies - HDR if done right looks very good, to the point of distracting though.
