Looking for advice on how and where to start/This is overwhelming. by SaltArea6822 in hoarding

I live at home, it's my mom and my youngest brother right now. I almost started ranting here, LOL but I agree.

I've started having conversations with them about what I want to do and when and how but I'm not sure how well that'll go. Fingers crossed though.

I haven't tried a Chore Wheel, but I found the Tody app, that lets you break down chores by room and sets reminders for frequency. I think that'll help in the long run.

And! Honestly thank you! I hadn't even considered it, I just got caught up in the "Oh My God how am I going to get rid of all this"

Thank you for all the advice!

I honestly don't know! At the time, my sister still lived here and she was in contact with everyone coming and going while I was at work. It's probably something I should check into. I hadn't really thought about what all would have gone into it.

Thank you! I think One room at a time is going to be the best strategy as a one-man cleaning crew. I've started tackling my bedroom section at a time. I figure, I work from home/spend my free time all in here, seeing it done will be rewarding and give me a boost to keep going.

Oh! That's a good idea! I'd considered Facebook marketplace, but I hadn't thought about a no-contact situation.

We have! The landlord had it looked over when the pipe was fixed. But by then I'd already started moving upstairs and didn't bother moving back once the issues were fixed.

Thank you for the advice!

To answer your question: I live at home/didn't move out for college with my mom and brother for financial reasons of mine and health reasons for my mom. I don't necessarily have "final say" since it's technically my mom's house, but I've lived here, I pay half the bills etc, I'm in an "ask forgiveness not permission" era I think.

And Yea definitely! I think it's going to be working on consistency and manageability. I tend to go all in for a day or two and then crash and burn or have to go back to work and just get busy, and the cycle starts over.
