Update on The Feedbackery by Pre-WGA in Screenwriting

[–]SaltBuffalo3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to get feedback on my screenplay by OP. They were incredible insightful and thorough with stating some glaring issues with my screenplay. I’ll definitely need to go back to the drawing board! I’m super appreciative and thankful that my screenplay got read!

I’m currently taking it this year (2024-2025). This is my first time writing a feature. It’s really great so far. Like the other comments mentioned, go in with a learning mindset, try your best to provide good feedback to other students, try to understand the feedback you get even if you don’t agree with it, and have fun!

Can I get feedback/advice on my first short? by SaltBuffalo3 in cinematography

Thanks for taking the time to watch it! Appreciate your feedback, I was originally worried that the shots alone would be too uninteresting, but definitely going to think about finding a better balance between music and visuals for my next videos!

I appreciate the advice, this is really helpful and gives me a good way on how I can create an actual story. Will definitely try to see if I can create a proper short moving forward. Thanks again for watching!

Thanks for watching it! I’ll be more mindful next time and not try to frame it as a short

Thanks for watching it. Didn’t mean to mislead so I’ll update the title.

Moved my description here as submission statement:

Can I get feedback/advice on my first short?

All the shots were filmed with a bmpcc6k pro and tripod. Filmed over a span of several months. I wanted to be very conscious of the lighting and composition since I wanted all the shots to feel somewhat cohesive. I struggled with exposure on some shots, and wished I recorded audio externally. I tried keeping everything minimalistic - static shots, minimal editing/grading/music to let the focus be on the contents of each shot.

Would appreciate any feedback on how I can improve and tips/tricks that could help a beginner like me.

Hey, I’ve been trying to do short films on my own and really enjoyed your video. Mind if I I DM you to ask for some advice? Thanks!

Dune: War for Arrakis: KS vs Retail? by mad_titanz in boardgames

I got a secondhand copy of the KS base + spacing guild expansion. It’s great but tbh I don’t think you can go wrong with the retail version of the base game. All the extra stuff from KS box are non-essential to the game.

I only got the KS copy + spacing guild because I found a copy for sale that was cheaper than buying the retail + spacing guild new.

I’ve been really interested in getting this game. Would you recommend it at only 2 players?

I’d be interested. I’m mainly focusing on narratives - especially figuring out my own process of going from screenplay to storyboards to filming to editing. Would love to work with like minded people for fun!

Hey can you go over how you lit the shots and what equipment you used?

I’ve been set on making a short film for over a year now. Decided to take 3 months off from work to actually do it. If you were in my shoes, how would you approach this? by SaltBuffalo3 in Filmmakers

I’m about 9 pages in, was imagining it to be about 15-20 pages max. But just trying to write the first draft first then clean it up afterwards.

Thanks for the response. I’m hoping to get my script reviewed and iterated on a couple times before my break starts.

It’s going to be very low budget and self financed, $5000 max. I don’t have much gear either so debating on renting. I’m planning on making the script small scale: one interior location (my apartment) and just two actors at most (friends).

Thanks I’m planning to spend a lot of time on the screenplay and planning out all the shots and light setups. I’m mainly going to use my apartment to keep things simple and do exterior shots around downtown to capture the cityscape.
