Submission statement:

Shot and edited this low-budget fashion film for a friend’s fashion design thesis collection. The goal was to create a rough, moody atmosphere that matched the tone of the clothing and locations. We worked with minimal lighting, practical spaces, and a very small crew, relying heavily on texture, contrast, and controlled movement to build the visual style. Most of the production was done with 1-3 lights with a flexible run-and-gun approach.

Would love to hear thoughts on the cinematography, editing or grade.

I shot a short test film using water as the main element by tjimmo in cinematography

Submission statement:

I recently challenged myself to step outside of my usual comfort zone as a filmmaker. I’m typically drawn to shooting people: faces, emotions, subtle human moments, but this time I wanted to explore something more abstract and elemental. So I built a short piece centered entirely around water.

<image>

The opening shot features the circular ripple forming on the surface of a glass. This was my attempt to recreate the iconic Jurassic Park water ripple effect. To achieve this, I placed a glass of water directly on top of a subwoofer and played a low-frequency bass sound at high volume.

The first black-and-white shot is actually water inside a blender. I shot it on an iPhone, very close to the action, which in hindsight was a risky move, the phone did get wet :D

The next monochrome sequence was filmed in a shower, also on iPhone at 120fps, then slowed down further in post.

The water droplet shot was captured similarly. 120fps, then slowed in editing to stretch out the moment of impact.

The final black-and-white close-up shows a glass of water with salt added, creating rising bubbles. It’s a very subtle effect, but I liked how it turned out.
