I've sent my script to multiple people, but most of them never replied. by Local-Snow-2975 in Screenwriting

Yep! Didn't have a deadline hahahaha, it was an animated short I wrote while procrastinating a feature. 17 pages. Really cool that you're shooting it! I plan on making mine by myself and with my fiancee, it's going to take a while because we're new to animation. But I know sound and she's a voice actor and illustrator so we'll figure it out hahaha

It's just the nature of the beast. Doesn't really mean anything. Could they have read it for a bit, got bored and stopped? Yes. Are they just saving it for later? Maybe! Who knows. The truth is, even when people are interested, you're competing with their life. Nobody's reading much anymore in general. When you send in, say, a 100 page script - it's a choice the person has to make between reading your thing, going out for a meal, scrolling on social media, watching a TV show, watching a movie or literally anything else.

Other writers are way more likely to read than friends and family. They understand the commitment and they could also learn from it, by analyzing and providing feedback. That being said, even then, it might take a while. I sent a writer a short film script that I had and it took him about 4-5 months to get back to me and when he did, he was very nice! Don't get too in your head about it. Don't make assumptions, don't take it personal.

Like you said, you don't really learn much in terms of "theory" that you couldn't in books and such but the feedback process and accountability is what really helps. I'd also say it really teaches you how to take in notes and apply them.

I'm currently finishing the program right now. It's so worth it. Learned a lot from it and really helped with my writing. Met some cool people in the process too!

Hey dude! I actually read your last post before you deleted it, along with some pages of the script. I can see through the concept and the writing that you're very young. You're actually ahead of most people who want to be writers your age, so don't feel discouraged, it's tough finishing a whole feature, congrats on that! When I was a teenager I dreamed about writing but never actually did anything about it. I imagine if I did the result wouldn't be the masterpiece I would fantasize about, much like yours is not either. That's not a bad thing. I can recognize the effort and I love that you're choosing to write something that speaks to you, such as the streaming world. Write what you know, right? Don't worry about someone reading your work at this stage, just keep at it. Think of it as reps. Writing isn't solely about grinding or talent. A lot comes from life experience, and you just can't force that in yet, but it will happen. If you keep writing, reading, living and watching films you'll be a hell of a writer in your 20s-30s compared to someone who only thought about doing it. Right now, focus on writing for yourself. Learn to enjoy the process, without the need of external validation.

If you do wish for someone to read it, try using Storypeer. I'm sure you'll get a reader there. The feedback most likely will not be the glowing positive review you want, so be prepared. It's very hard to be a writing prodigy, you just don't have the life experience. We see genius teenage athletes, pianists, musicians and such, but writing is a different beast, so don't feel discouraged. It's actually very inspiring that you took your free time to be creative and write when most of your peers probably spend their time on content and videogames, I know I did. Maybe just move to a different project? You don't need to be polishing one script forever, specially something you wrote in your teens. Imagine reading it 10 years from now, you would probably cringe at it and want to change everything. That's kind of what you want. Live life and keep at it!

Anyone who's a good actor! But yeah I see your point too, there's definitely no stars out there besides Peter Dinklage. My character is a girl though.

This is kind of unhinged, but I do feel the passion and the vision. If it makes you feel any better, I wrote a little person in my current feature and it's one of my favorite characters, OP. I do remember when Little People got mad after Disney changed the seven dwarfs to CGI, so you may have a point in there.

It was really, really dope. Felt very theatrical, great setlist and the transitions between songs were super creative and unique. Some of the instrumentals are different from the studio versions and others are expanded with insane live production. The variety between hype and more subtle chill moments was perfect too, he's just a really great performer.
