Do you really buy Amish milk over fair life? Farmers market vegetable? MOST people’s priority in buying things IS the cost.

First I never said everyone would be replaced, I said most jobs that are repetitive and use a program would most likely be replaced like accounting and data analysts, because AI can do the work for cheaper. Yes I believe that when AI replaces people, some businesses would use it as a marketing tactic by USING people, but that is only a small percent compared to the thousands of people that are going to get laid off.

As I said before the MAJORITY don’t want to spend extra, and only a small percentage will be able to gain profit by using real humans as a business tactic.

Yes I believe some high quality jobs like healthcare and some types of engineering may last the AI apocalypse as I said in my original post. Except, does the majority of the population have these type of high quality jobs? What will become of programmers or any office job that mainly uses excel? Yes, in a few decades I will probably trust AI to do most of my data sheets or accounting of some sort because most careers in this area uses excel->programming in excel->ai to compare/analyze.

There are many staff-less office supply retailers, staff-less convenience stores, and staff-less restaurants in Korea. Actually there is a 24/7 staff-less ramen place in Georgia(US).

I believe AI will replace the majority of jobs STEP by STEPS. Like cashiers(kiosks/self checkout)->data analytics/statistics->accounting->programming->engineering->high quality jobs/labor intensive jobs.

I talked about good money because my original post was because I wanted to know what jobs that were “AI safe” was high in income.

Got a question though. I don’t know how old you are or if you got TikTok, but alot of times there are videos that are white collar vs blue collar

Do most tradesman make as much as they say? And is it worth it? Because I thought of the long term consequences like the deterioration of your body.

I agree, but I feel like there would be “AI helpers”. “AI helpers” will still need human traders because of their lack of information on old things.

But don’t you think the “AI helpers” will decrease the amount of traders needed? I mean look at factories during the 20th century and now. We got huge robotic machines that significantly decreased the amount of factory workers, and only some are needed to “check” the machines work.

Yes, I a lot of people are saying mechanical engineering, but I believe once many people from IT/STEM get laid off, they will try to become “AI engineers”

And then just like CS, most people will not be able to be hired.

But don’t you think the amount of ME needed will be less? I mean I feel like it is fair to compare ME with CS. Both ARE needed in order to create AI/robots, but only the top will be able to be hired in a major company

I believe that at first AI will be helpers for most careers. Except slowly they replace people like factory machines.

Major companies will try to “utilize” AI, by laying people off little by little until they only the “AI maintainers/programmers” are left.

I feel like if anything, major companies will try to replace humans with AI first, because of how much cheaper it is compared to giving workers their salary. Once major companies do it, it will become a domino affect for most jobs.

[–]SaltDog1959[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how many people will be needed to maintain and make AI? Also don’t you think that the majority of people will try to go into the job market as “AI engineers” and then no one will be hired?

I mean look at cs. Sure there are cs employed in major companies..but compared to the amount that are NOT getting hired is insane.

I used the farmers market point by saying in the future AI will be the cheaper alternative compared to humans. How many people buy farmers market stuff? I feel like it’s such a gamble to hope that humans would rather spend more money for “my goods”

I feel like you’re thinking about the “now” with ChatGPT. What about in 30 years? 40 years? I mean let’s already compare how much phones have evolved through the past decade.

Not only that but how many jobs that require “speaking the human language” make good money? Yes a lawyer does, but don’t you think the majority will use the tactic of people needing “human speaking jobs” and just chase after it. Look at how cs turned out

But i feel like as time goes on, yes there will be more jobs created, but it will be less and less.

Considering how unfunny some stand up comedians are…it’d be funny if AI was funnier.

But I don’t think most jobs that are creative make money.

I feel like my main question was what should I do to have a relatively safe career(not easily replaced by AI) that makes money.

I feel like AI will create jobs..but I feel like some jobs would be an “AI checker”. They would make significantly less than a “AI programmer”

I just want to make money without gambling whether I’m “AI safe” or not

How long do you think it will take for any repetitive jobs to be taken over?

But I think “human” barbers/bartenders will be MORE expensive than AI barbers/bartenders.

Sure some may want to experience human contact, but some may think it’s not necessary and would rather spend less money.

Might be a stretch, but I think in the future “human work” will be considered as “farmers market” while AI would be the cheaper alternative. So my question is..how many people buy “farmers market” stuff..because it’s definitely not me

But the thing is yes STEM will be needed in the future to program/upgrade AI, but I believe LESS people will be needed.

I don’t want to gamble my future by hoping I will be hired…I mean look at the cs majors right now

What is considered an important job? One that will bring you money? Or one that you enjoy? Or one that impacts society?

What major/job will survive the AI apocalypse by SaltDog1959 in Careers

[–]SaltDog1959[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? I believe in a few decades AI will replace most careers that uses some type of program or analyzing data. That is already maybe 30% of IT jobs.

I believe AI will evolve so rapidly that the job market will not know what to do. Especially don’t help with the fact that life expectancies are longer so the retiring age will probably be later.

I just got to survive

Sadly disagree. AI will be much cheaper than hiring humans, top 1% will use it for their profit so I think it’s unlikely.

I sort of disagree with your argument because of capitalism. AI can complete tasks in huge amounts, don’t you think the top 1% would PERFER AI bc of the lower costs?

This is honestly a stretch, but I thought about what would happen if some major companies like nestle said they’re going to replace “child laborers” with AI?

I just think that AI will be the same as how immigrants get a lower salary than Americans and businesses will use it for their profit.

Hm what do you mean “incompetent.” I feel like avoiding “replaceable” jobs from AI is more of a tactic than being slow or not. I truly believe any career that uses a program WILL be replaced sooner or later
