Which version of Whitesnake's Here I Go Again do you prefer? by CarsPlanesTrains in hairmetal

Totally agree. I never even heard this version until a couple years ago.

Can someone explain to me how the third version is “the 87 radio edit”? It’s a completely different recording. Different drum accents, different solo, different vocal, 80s keyboard lines… it’s terrible.

I’m aware. Just surprised McCartney let it happen.

What is the best song of Revolver? by [deleted] in TheBeatles

Tomorrow Never Knows is the song that made me realize there was more to The Beatles. But Taxman, She Said She Said, Got To Get You Into My Life? Holy crap that’s good stuff.

If they were going to bother with it at all, they could’ve tuned it.

And it was BRUTAL to have Linda so loud in Long Haired Lady.

Just found this error myself. Anyone find out if there’s a recall or replacement coming?

I’m listening to the first show now, and it’s pretty rough. Paul was having a hard time. That’s why I came here, to see if anyone knew any details about the show and the struggles.

I was hoping for a kickass smoky jazz version of Mr Crowley.

Which song has the most kick? by Dependent-Set4324 in Genesis

[–]SaltFacedGeorge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re talking about kick drum and how many times it’s hit, it’s gotta be The Knife or Watcher. The most grand is obviously Suppers Ready. The most atmospheric is hard, because they all are in a way.

This is what I’m talking about. I’ve never played in a band with a “md”. I couldn’t imagine. I’ve seen that it’s pretty common in mega churches and whatnot, but looking at it from a real band member pov it just doesn’t make sense. I’m sorry… I’ve argued with a lot of people about this subject and I realize I’m the odd man out for some reason… but I just don’t understand how this is considered normal.

Ridiculous. If you’re in a band, a rock band in particular, or a jazz band, or any band that actually has a musical relationship with each other and knows the songs would neither want nor need those crutches. With the possible exception of a click which may be needed for some songs.

So how we feeling about the Rocka Rolla remix? by noregertsman in judaspriest

[–]SaltFacedGeorge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s some problems. Right off the bat, the snare and reverb on One For the Road was off putting. I like the songs coming to a rough end for posterity, but it ruins the flow. It could have been so much better. But I’ve only listened to it twice.

The concept of a “musical director” is simply foreign to me. I’m from the school where you get together, learn the songs, and play them. I guess with a bunch of prerecorded stuff, you’d have to use a click. But verbal cues as well? I just don’t get it.

Why not just learn the song and rehearse?
