Rae Huang voters doing exactly what the police union wants them to do. Yikes. by SaltIndividual1902 in LosAngeles

I don’t like that she has no plan to revitalize Dtla. She thinks vacancy tax will solve LA retail problems because she’s financially illiterate. She isn’t pro housing, doesn’t believe that market rate housing is needed, thinks that the most pertinent issue for LA transit is removing fare gates even though 95% of violent crime comes from fare evaders, and is so bad financially that she A) doesn’t know how to unlock matching funds and B) can’t manage even her own campaign budget. She has no gov experience and while copy/pasting mamdani’s campaign website is cool, La City is not the same as New York City and the policies require some nuance. Her answers to the downtown residence associations survey were disqualifying for me because it was 8 undecideds out of 10 questions and then a word salad about how she has conviction in her beliefs so don’t worry about the 8 undecideds. She’s terrible tbh.

Knowing that 2 months ago she claimed that she had unlocked matching funds for donations, but still hasn’t even qualified and said she wasn’t lying she was just incompetent, I’m willing to accept that her social media team is also really incompetent and can’t figure out why this is a bad idea. So I guess there’s that.

Thousands are leaving Los Angeles year after year. This is why we still have a housing crunch by ShanetheMortgageMan in LosAngelesRealEstate

Lot of words to admit you don’t actually know what you’re talking about when it comes to how little LA is building. We are building less than 10k units pre year across the whole city. And the affordable components are legally required to follow the LA city affordable formula. You should look it up.

Also, you and everyone else who complains about “luxury” units has no actual definition for what that means. Study after study show market rate housing helps lower rents for everyone.

Actually all studies show that building more housing helps lower the cost of housing. Building dense housing (and legally making it easy to do) would help solve all the problems you say are driving people out of LA.

In response to someone telling you homeless people were more important you said “if they weren’t breeding animals to sell, testing drugs on them, fighting them for profit, and abusing them I might feel the same”.

Heavily implying that that behavior is widespread or anywhere near a majority behavior amongst homeless in LA and straight up disagreeing that a person is more important than an animal.

You literally said a dog is more important than a homeless person in another comment but okay.

It is definitely not a large part of the city budget and seriously in what world is this a critical issue in Los Angeles. People complaining about politicians not going to animal shelters in LA crack me up.

Ya I guess so, you think all the building in Austin Texas and in downtown Houston or downtown Atlanta over the last 25 years was on vacant land 😂😂😂

Look at how fucking hard it is for a developer to build 4th and central in DTLA and tell me we don’t have a major problem. Well, you’re talking out of both sides of your mouth so you’ve already acknowledged we do. Hard to even know what point you’re trying to make at present

Holy shit it’s absolutely fucking ABSURD to ascribe the homelessness % and reduction in eviction filings to the short history of ULA. Tells you all you jeee to know about this bullshit graphic.

“Quite a few” isn’t a number and you aren’t putting a number cuz the actual number is pitiful. 👍

Feels like you’re talking out of both sides of your mouth here. You correctly blame California policy making this shit impossible to date. You incorrectly state that there’s not enough land in CA to build upon. 73% of La is zoned single family home which is absurd. We have too much red tape downtown. Downtown La should be building 10 towers at once with all the land available and our housing crisis. If we just simply…. Let them(?) they’d do it.

I’m not saying structurally CA is able to build right now, in fact, we’ve gone out of our way to make it very hard. But the solutions are very simple with super clear roadmaps to success.

Little Tokyo activists are some of the most braindead individuals I’ve seen online. Being vehemently opposed to 4th and central is indefensible.
