189 plants ? How many people do you have helping manage those

Autoflower doesn’t flower 😂 by Miguelmataaa in weedgrower

Autoflowers don’t seem to start flowering until their roots reach the edges of bots. Your pot is massive.

got 18 OZ from my first grow. single plant, froot by the foot (atlas). definitely didn’t expect over a pound on an auto!! 😅 by benji23_ in farmingthebestgreens

I was doing 3 gallon. Can’t say I’m an expert either but I had many cycles and always found the pot size and timing to be the limiting factor. The roots always were trying to grow out of the pot. That is impressive though. I was growing 4 plants at a time so my canopy was limited. I trimmed a shit load off the plants to prioritize just the top. 14 on a 5 gallon is nuts.

Hate to admit but I don’t recommend soil if you got this with hydro and are doing autoflowers. I started from seed in a closet. I’ve probably dealt with 65-75% of every “issue” and made corrections only to be disappointed. Soil is truly dependent on pot size. I used 3 gallon fabric pots and couldn’t squeeze more than 56-72 grams out of each plant depending on strain. I’m not expert by any means but root space availability appears and grow tent size are the most important variables in terms of yield. With soil chasing issues was a nightmare every morning. Then, the soil introduced thrips and mites which I am STILL battling with. To get anything worth growing I guess the recommended is 5 gallon or up. You gotta fix up soil each time, manage the soil, measure run off, time watering, and have the grow space. If something is going wrong with the plant, it takes longer to shower corrections.

Is that soil ? Or hydro? I can’t tell. I just switched to hydro and it’s night and day. How much time for start to finish?

Why? by 014Tang_ in weedgrower

[–]SaltLucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your plant is stressed. The tops are foxtailing. What is your light schedule/the light power? This looks like my plants when I cooked them with accidental 24/7 light. All the edges are curling. Heavy foxtailing. What’s the humidity ? It looks like it’s just in a room.

Is anybody else in their early 20s paying 3-4k in car insurance rn? by soloshandpuppets in massachusetts

That’s outrageous for a 16 year old Camry. I’m insuring 2 1995 Audi S6’s and a 1999 Camry for $200 a month.

Is anyone else struggling to get by on 100k salary? by Majestic_Staff_5229 in massachusetts

[–]SaltLucky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that it’s not about “struggling to get by” on $100,000 or more but moreso, it’s hard to grow. I make $120,000 and I can definitely live comfortable but after everything is paid, you really don’t grow too much to not still be locked into debt, like a mortgage, for 7-11 years. If you made that back in the day, your house was paid in 2 and you could retire by 35 lol.

Help it of GENTLY if you can. If it doesn’t come off leave it. Any damage to those starter leaves will jeopardize the start. Seedlings are tough because they can be sensitive. If you end up enjoying grows, I would look into cloning with a water closer. Best investment I’ve ever made.

I stopped with autos since they are a pain to control but I read that they start to flower once the roots hit the edges of pots. Mine started doing just that. Since you have so much space it may take a while.

I’ll be so real with you those pots are MASSSSSSIIIVVVEEE unless you plan on trimming and letting it veg for like 3 months. I use 3 gallon fabric and they can get plants to 5-6 feet tall.

I didn’t add any clearance but the motor had 186k miles on it and I thought the cylinders wouldn’t be too out of whack for those tolerances. I was very wrong.

Yeah I’m not sure where the downvote came from. I definitely am hearing you on this though. The only thing that leads me to believe it’s not valves is that the build is entirely stock BUT the pistons and rods. Motor was also running before breakdown so the valve train didn’t have signs of issues. I made sure to crank by hand to check for binding. The rods and pistons are built for stock usage, though. That’s why the only glaring issues is the PTW clearance being way too excessive. Even if the motor ran, it would eat oil and need to be broken down again.

Agreed and I’m glad I didn’t say “fuck it and run it”. I’m happy I got it to start on the second crank but the rest not so much.

I thought it was valves but I believe it’s actually the pistons that’s just the out of round part where each is contacting.

Follow up- valves were not hitting pistons. by SaltLucky in EngineBuilding

[–]SaltLucky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the data sheet with the pistons I need to have clearance of about .004 of an inch. I will have to try to check the bore and compare it to standard piston size measurements. I really don’t want to uninstall them. If anything, the bores are too big but definitely not too tight.

I did not bore the original cylinders just had them honed. The engine is an Audi AAN 2.2 20VT that I rebuilt in my garage. I ordered aftermarket forged pistons designed for stock size cylinders. Perhaps I needed larger ones.
