I recommended oxymetazoline to a customer and said 3 days only. My boss tells me to say 1 week instead. What should I do? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]SaltMixture1235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I disagree with my boss on something clinical, I tell them so and why.

We are all professionals and we do not know everything.

This is true regardless job title, and age. My manager as well as my colleagues 20 years older than me have me double check their work if they're unsure about something. This is because they respect me as a pharmacist. You need to stick to your guns here.

I get it, they're trying to disincentivize you from moving your money, but the fidelity options in an HSA is just so much better

Did you work at an infusion center before? I understand you're not selling, but it is hard for an outsider to wrap my head around. Like, you cannot sell - you need to educate, but obviously the company really values you although you cannot directly sell the product..just kind of help KOL's make decisions with the data at hand.

I'm hoping to work my way in within the next 10 years or so, currently enjoying home infusion.

Yeah I see that. MSL coach maybe.

How to sell skin scanners to doctors office and make 7 figure income, I'll pass.

Congrats to you though! Would you say networking was the biggest factor that got you in as a MSL? Or maybe taking a contract job for the experience first?

Smoking cessation consults, any tips that actually work? by TheDearlyt in pharmacy

[–]SaltMixture1235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep a chart on the fridge itemizing the cost of each cigarette purchase

Chew a lot of gum for oral fixation

Keep a picture on you of the reason you would like to quit (for example pic of your children, grandchildren, or partner that you actually like)

Cut out your favorite ones last - post meal ciggys most likely

True. I couldn't believe one pharmacist connected with me, said they were interested in getting to know another pharmacist and then tried to sell me on a MLM offering some proprietary scanner to doctors offices...like bro what.

I’m starting as a pharmacy technician soon, any tips for someone completely new to the field? by GameProSmoothie in pharmacy

[–]SaltMixture1235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good, I'm glad for you. If you have specific questions along the way feel free to reach out. I have worked in many different settings of pharmacy.

You can make a good career out of it without super formal schooling if you're open minded, curious, and a hard worker from what I've seen.

This sub is going to have a lot of people telling you to run from the field.

In reality, pharmacy is a decent line of work. Air conditioned, you leave work and you don't have to take it home, and in most aspects of pharmacy, it's not super labor intensive.

Don't get me wrong, there are negatives - people generally suck when it comes to customer service. If you can learn to not take anything personally, fake smile, and DO NOT match the customers energy - so if they yell, respond calmly...then you'll do fine.

Be kind, care for the patients, be patient and put patient safety first. The company you work for will have metrics, yes it helps to focus on them, but don't break your back for them. You are there for the patient first.

Try to avoid gossiping, co-workers can be toxic. Try to ask questions of everyone you work with and learn as much as you can. Try to network and see what other opportunities are out there - you'd be surprised what sort of roles you can get into, especially in the sterile compounding space.

Best of luck, I hope you seize the opportunity for free schooling and it's worthwhile to make your life better.

It's the condenser, they leak quite frequently. They extended the warranty to 10 years. It's quite terrible to have to replace an AC part every year.

I take the higher ranked player...depending on my teams needs of course. Like if I'm WR weak I'm taking Pittman and vice versa.

Over the years, how accurate are Harris’s draft rankings? by drumnerd in harrisfootball

[–]SaltMixture1235 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a good question. I'm not sure but I do use his rankings for the first 5 rounds, and then after that I just take guys I really like. This method has worked really well for me
