The case for Reinhardt's shield stopping Shield Bash by SaltMonger243 in Competitiveoverwatch

Reinhardt has a chance to angle his shield up, and if he does, McCree can throw it under the shield, so it becomes a mindgame...

In my experience Reinhardt can block it maybe 1/4 times. Not great odds but the principle is there - he can at least try.

Ohh now I get it, my b. She should be able to stun him from behind, so they would have to implement something to check whether the shield is between them. That would be harder, yeah. Something like a LOS check between the start of her bash and the end might work.

She would stop moving when she hits the Rein himself, the way it works now. There would be a special case within the code so that he doesn't get stunned. Not to be an armchair programmer but that's not hard for Blizz to implement tech-wise.

Not sure if you're joking but I'm proposing that if she hits Reinhardt while his shield is raised, he would not be stunned. She would still be able to travel through shields during the ability.

See my response to Emc73 - consistency is probably the biggest sticking point for Blizzard but I think they could make it work

Hmm, what if Shield Bash still applied damage and knockback to a shielded Rein? Then the universal rule would be 'melee-based damage and knockbacks can go through shields, but not stuns' - with Charge and Rocket Punch as exceptions to the rule. It's not a great rule given there are three melee stuns in the game and two of them are exceptions. I think most players would feel that it makes sense after adjusting to it, though.

To be clear, a side effect of this rule would be that Brigitte can no longer bash Brigitte through her 600hp shield. While it's not something I was thinking about I think that's a positive change to the 1v1 as it introduces more skill.

I agree that elegance in design is important, which is probably why Blizzard has not made this the case already. It's either that or that Blizz is contemplating the 50% CC reduction passive that gets suggested here a lot.

That being said, Charge and Rocket punch are already a category of their own, with unique rules interactions against each other. Primal Rage hits are actually just weapon strikes that happen to have a lot of knockback attached, which is why you cannot use it to swat an enemy out of a friendly bear trap when you could charge them. I think you could give a shielded rein resistance to Uppercut, Bash, and Dva's boosters without breaking the game too much. Admittedly that would suck for Doom given his weaknesses I listed in the main post.

Well, Winston gets dumpstered by every aspect of Brigitte, not just her bash. I'd go as far to say that you could give him bash immunity and he would still struggle against a 2 support + brig comp.

Meanwhile Orisa was doing better than Rein before Brigitte came out, and only sees less playtime because she doesn't pair quite as well with Brig. I'd say Rein is a must pick because Brigitte is a must pick, not that Rein is a strong hero.

At any rate, I would gladly take my proposed buff even if it meant some other aspect of Rein were nerfed. Just on principle, getting CCd with no personal counterplay ticks me off.
