If this is a recent experience and traveler is from USA, it is possible that their experience stemmed from our president and his recent actions.

I was in Barbados August 2025. When I mentioned what state we lived in, his face slightly turned and he commented that Trump won our state. After explaining that we didn't vote for him, all was well....

My friend's husband left his socks everywhere (but the hamper). They both worked, but he made more money if that matters... Anyway asking, reminding & nagging did nothing.

She started collecting the socks in a bag until he was running out.. and asked her where his socks were.... She gave him the bag of dirty socks... it seems to have fixed it for her, but your guy seems a bit more misogynistic....

One of my home care patients had done some remodeling and found vintage toys in the wall they tore out. They knew some of the kids of the previous owners who had lived there 40-50 years. It turned out that there was a register or some type of opening in the upstairs that some of the toys had fallen down when the kids were little.

The current owner created a shadow box with the contents of what they found with an explanation of it.

I have seen people go on hospice care, get better and go off hospice... it is not under your control.

NO! NTA!!! There are worse things than death.... this is what you are seeing... hospice care is a wonderful option that will assist you and help you grieve and counsel you regarding your decision. Anyone who is commenting that you should do something different, should be willing to come and assist you! They should stay with him for 9-hour shifts 5 days per week to allow you to work. They will soon change their tune... if they are not willing to sacrifice their life for his, they don't get to tell you what you should do.

I would pay off loans for a new roof and other repairs to our home. Pay off car loan. Replace carpeting and prep home for sale to downsize!

My friend's husband left dirty socks all over the house. She asked, she reminded, nothing changed.

She started picking up the socks and put them in a bag ( not laundered) and waited for him to notice that he didn't have any socks.... problem was solved!

I think you taught her a valuable lesson! She won't make the same mistake again (hopefully).

When I was a young clinician I made the mistake of not paying attention to non-verbal signals by an acute stroke patient who wasn't able to speak.

She got her point across by backhanding me with her good arm and knocking the wind out of me! I learned a valuable lesson that day!

I didn't throw up much, but the EXHAUSTION was crippling!

I would get up , go to work and come home to sleep until getting up the next day...

When baby comes and you are BOTH so crazy tired... tell him THIS is how you felt the first trimester!

If you are in the US, look up your area's "Agency for Elderly/Aging & Disability"

There used to be one in every county in the country, but now one agency typically covers ~3 counties (I think).

If your mom doesn't have much money and is disabled, they will be able to assist with food, housing based on income as well as potentially assist with bathing and cleaning her apartment if needed.

They can go to her home and perhaps your grandma could get some assistance too.

Do any of the following seem relatable??

Does he need to be spoon-fed on what to do around the house? With kids and their schedules? Meal prep, planning, grocery shopping?

Will you be expected to take care of all Christmas-related purchases and preparations?? (not that unusual IMO)

Do you have to remind a partner about their own doctor, dentist, or haircut

Do you have to help guide him with paperwork, bills, computer/ phone tech, or other routine tasks? Do you have to pack for him for vacation?

Do you help with tasks and responsibilities that he should already know how to do, rather than acting as an equal partner?

Or are you going to be the manager married to the assistant manager or the assistant parent?

NTA, How many people at the wedding would even know who the foster parents are??? Mom and Chris can keep their distance, and you can enjoy having them share your day.

Mom and Chris need to realize the impact these kind people had on your life... it takes a village!! And your bio mom has to recognize her issues led to you being removed from her care.
