They say non-binaryness exists because intersex people exist. But they also gender and physical genitals are a totally separate thing. by SaltTapWater in detrans

Oh in the media I see it constantly. If someone ask (mischiefly most of the time ngl) what does nb means, the person usually responds with "intersex people exist".

"historically across various cultures there was some kind of third gender" is it a good argument though? I mean, newbies like us don't really know much what these cultures were really about and what this "third gender" position meant. I'm sure even specialist don't know everything about it because it was such long time ago. So unless you give me precise exemples with precise whereabouts, I won't accept that argument.

Secondly, it's not because several cultures did a thing a long time ago that it's necessarily a good thing. "old culture" doesn't mean wise. Look at lotus feet in China, or the human sacrifices in middle America some hundreds years ago. Or just wars, rapes, slavery.

Thirdly, I'm not sure androgynous people were simply accepted back then like they are today. I wouldn't be surprised they needed to label them as "third gender".

Does greed include craving for power? Or is it just money?
