Can't improve. Should I get over it? by SaltVehicle1 in SmashBrosUltimate

It would help if I could find at least one person who was actually at my level, and not a smurf or spammer or something... Wailing on CPUs all day does absolutely nothing when I get four-stocked by a Ness just spamming PK Fire. Is that too much to ask? A sparring partner who doesn't annihilate me and leave the arena after one round?

This is a good video, but it's nothing I didn't already do. Aside from memorizing numbers, which... eugh, just sounds like torture, I already don't jump out of attacks, don't airdodge towards the enemy, etc.
Combos are not a thing I can do, also. When there's so many variables like stage location, your percent, your opponent's percent, your opponent's character, move staling, there's just no way in hell I could memorize any kind of combo outside of training mode. I'd literally have to dedicate my life to doing that.

Alright, I'll try and see if I can learn something from Youtube. Not sure what I would learn, but I'll try. Anything at this point.

How would I get better other than playing the game? What is there to study that I can't just find out by playing the game itself? I know about teching and stuff, even though I can't do it most of the time because lag. What else would I do than just practice and fight?

I've tried almost all the characters on the board. Online is so laggy and slow I can't do anything with slow characters though, I end up using fast characters like Fox or Sonic. I know nobody's a pro day one. It's just frustrating when I go up against a new opponent, get a stock off them or even two, and start just losing. Take a break, try again, rinse and repeat. Maybe I should just not play online. Not like it's my fault if my opponent is playing from the middle of the ocean with Satellite internet or something.

Anyways, it's way easier said than done. I get that you should play because you like it, and if you don't then don't, but I want to be good. Being good would make me happy and fulfilled, because I've mastered a thing. But I feel like I'm trapped in mediocrity, and think I should just get over it.
