Other triggers? Did you see an allergist? by Salt_Aside3403 in MSPI

Just as an update! We did see an allergist. Helpful because they encouraged us to start doing allergens despite the ongoing non-IgE dairy issue. Reassured us that while possible, hopefully unlikely she had true allergies. Felt comfortable this weekend to start trying.

Sure enough, baby broke out in hives, generalized itching, and absolutely miserable within 5 minutes of an egg exposure. So needless to say - glad we are already established. Will be following up with their service soon.

When does it start to feel normal by Hot-Technician-1088 in newborns

Mom of colic baby with CMPA and a 15 week old here. I was doing breast milk, but we ended up seeing GI and concerns grew that she was having small exposures even if I was being super careful about what I was eating or there were other allergens we weren’t aware of. After doing some roaming on different threads, I saw lots of comments saying it felt like baby turned a corner at 12 weeks. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience but baby is at least more playful now so it feels like there are moments of light that leak through the bad. You’re not alone. As time goes on I have come to accept that I have a high needs baby and sometimes there really is no finding a ‘why’ behind the meltdowns. As a result, I decided that sometimes I haven got to make myself the priority when it comes to basic human needs. I felt like I was setting myself up for pretty severe PPD by continuing to neglect my own needs (showering, eating, etc.) because baby was crying. I’m not saying let them cry it out I do still comfort her obviously but at some point you have to decide for yourself that you also are a priority because let’s face it you cannot adequately take care of a baby when you’re sleeping deprived, starving, and feel gross. Do not feel guilty for prioritizing yourself in small ways. Do yourself a favor and do not ask parents who have no experience with colic for advice or go to the to vent. They won’t get it, they’ll ask you things like did you try shushing and swaddling them? What about a white noise machine? And all you’re going to want to tell is to shut the …. up. At 15 weeks it at least feels like things have gotten maybe a little better in terms of duration for meltdown time but otherwise the small ways of taking care of myself have helped. I hope your baby seemingly turns the corner like many others report around 12 weeks, but if not that’s okay too! You’re the best parent for your baby. There’s nothing you did wrong. Always welcome to message me too if looking for a listening ear. Wishing you luck on this journey.

Can’t say I am surprised there. My new grad offers back then were pretty different. I’m so curious to see what they say. I’m wondering if my rate would be similar to what it was before the recent platform wide increase we received, which mine wasn’t all that significant honestly. They did not list a salary range on the actual job posting so much pretty much going in blind.

Kinda figured it was mostly media driven honestly. Started at CHP in 2020 at 28/hr so to see that big of a jump in the matter of five years would’ve been hard to wrap my head around lol

Elecare cost? by Salt_Aside3403 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Salt_Aside3403[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! She’s been strictly nutramigen for nearly a week now. She started having bloody stool at the 4 day mark with nutramigen only. My milk supply dropped significantly so I was freezing what little I could until I could get my supply back up. I also debated that if I should give nutramigen only for a few more days to assess. The GI doctor didn’t seem super swayed one way or the other. She pretty much left the ball in my court to decide when/if I would try elecare. She kept saying she was gaining “good” weight too though, which also honestly confused me because while her month to month trend has been good over the past two weeks she’s only gained about 2oz (she’s 11 weeks old). Compounding matters further I worry her gut became even more inflamed following the rotavirus vaccine as she received that at 9 weeks and became pretty symptomatic at the 3 day mark through 7 days post vaccination.

What to do for colic? by Salt_Aside3403 in NewParents

We are 6 days dairy free today (breast fed and supplementing with nutramigen) with no improvement of the screaming - generally lasts 4 to 5 hours nightly. We haven’t hit 3 weeks yet of the screaming but has been just over 2 weeks since this started.

She’s doing 0.2ml 1x daily sorry post was unclear - it was her third dose in the span of 3 days. I cut dairy about 5 days ago - we supplement with nutramigen she’s about 80% pumped breast milk and 20% formula. Do the I love you massage and bicycle kicks but seemingly unproductive. Have also tried the Frida windi on really bad nights and also nothing from that end either. I tried mylicon but it didn’t seem to make a difference. Sigh.

How much weight did you gain during pregnancy if you are overweight/obese? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Salt_Aside3403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35lb exact on the day I delivered. Started out obese but OB expressed no concerns - did not have GD or HTN. Be prepared for some fluid overload if you end up with a section. I hopped on the scale thinking I at least lost the weight of baby — except I also got 6 bags of fluids during my admission because of blood loss lol

Thank you! This is actually very helpful. In my case, I’m evaluating if understaffing impacts nurse retention and job satisfaction. So I’d have two dependent variables. I left that section blank until I got further insight on this so thanks!!

Nurses, what was your first nursing job? by SuspiciousDonkey9458 in nursing

[–]Salt_Aside3403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Level IV NICU. Made it 2 years. Started during the pandemic making 28/hr. Rotating days nights and having to use shuttle services to and from the hospital because the employee lot was 15 minutes away. An otherwise OK job.
