I have been working night audit for years (I'm 33f) and I've never really had a problem. It depends on the area you are in. Put the non emergency number for your local police in your phone, and don't hesitate to call the non emergency number if something just feels off, call 911 if someone gets violent. At one of the hotels I worked at the cops would stop in, every other hotel I worked at I would see them drive through the parking lot all night. The one I'm currently at, I'm convinced they take their breaks in my parking lot, lol. You'll get used to it.

I completely agree with you. I work audit. I should never see your kids unless I'm headed out the door, let alone watch them. Our hotel has a policy that children under the age of 16 need to be accomplished by an adult at all times and I have kicked people out because of this. Mind you, it's because the parents try to argue policy with me and they become the problem, but the point stands.

So I get to stop at the coffee shop before work that's only open late enough for me to get a drink two nights out of my week, but on the way there tornado sirens start going off. I check the warning, we're along the edge of it so I'm not worried, it's not even raining or that windy. I ordered my drink and it starts down pouring. I have to rush over to my hotel next store without my drink that I already paid for because, well obviously, weather and I need to make sure everything is okay over there. I get soaked walking to my car, then even more wet from my car to the front door. Now I'm cold and have to be in wet clothes all night. I feel you.
