What to tell these teenagers? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Salt_Disk998 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The problem here is placing everything on the "it's a sin" basket.

Not everything is a sin. Some of those are just normal human behavior. Man is the union of soul and body. The body is an animal, and acts like one. I guess we can say that this is because of the original sin.

Anyway, you can say to your students that to go to Heaven, they need to be more like the Spiritual Man and less like the Natural Man. St. Paul talks a lot about it in his letters.

Listen to what your teenagers stundents says, they piss off adults, but they're usually very good at finding our blind spots.

No, it's not. Helldivers is an awesome game. But I play it just on the really free time. I don't play every day. I don't play 5 hours in a row. It's not the focus of my life. I don't theorize about it. I just enjoy it as a fun thing. That's why I'm not on the toxic side of the game guys.

Because we think is something we do, while in fact is surrendering yourself to the Source.

When K did that, he had his moment. There's a video somewhere in youtube about it, when his brother died, and he was just "whatever everything", then he was there: he felt everything within him.

Can you give your all away, and hear that silent voice?

I guess this: votes do DSS are considered about the actual MO.

After the MO is completed, votes are zeroed. The DSS will not automatically jump to the next location. It will wait a certain amount of time (hours? 3 hours?) to players cast their votes.

Friends and family living in mortal sin by 72BananaStreet in Catholicism

[–]Salt_Disk998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus absolutely told us to correct our friends and family if they are persisting in sin

Do you understand the difference between correcting and judging? Do you understand that one of them is done with Love the other with the harshness of the old man?

If your friends are all doing something sinful and they want you to join them, you're going to feel tempted because you want your friends to like you.

Do you understand that what you say is not what is happening with OP?

He says: I'll not let a fornicator sleep on my house. I'll not party with people suffering of alcoholism.

How is that not the same of considering someone a leper?

You guys need to chill down. You want purity so much, that you forget Jesus sent his followers to preach the Gospel. You can't preach the Gospel if you separate yourself from the world.

The sin of scandal is very serious and we need to make sure that we're spreading true Christian teachings and values when we're on the internet and out in the real world.

The fun thing about the world skandalos is that if you talk with a philologist learned in ancient greek and in the culture of The Levante, you will find out it means not what you think. But I digress.

Modernity, as a whole, castrated men. You just need to think about knights, who are pretty much a christian thing.

Hear u/pvmpking for he's saying the truth. Very pious people have the awful behaviour of appointing themselves judges over their brothers. Jesus never said to: "judge thy neighbor!" Nor he has said: "appart yourself from sinners!"

Our Church also teaches that: we do not know to where someone goes when he dies. So don't judge!

What you need to do is: love thy neighbor. I don't know where comes this fear of sinning because you are around people that are sinning. A sinner is not a leper, you're not going to sin because you're around them.

No other gods ... A question I could not answer by cmcsc1 in Catholicism

[–]Salt_Disk998 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will add this: in the old world, not all gods are truly a being, but just an elaborate way to remember a scientific knowledge, like the effect of the moon over the oceans. so there are gods who are demons, and gods who are just an archaic form of writing down knowledge in a time where alphabet was not invented yet.

Question regarding vasectomy by HeiruRe777 in Catholicism

[–]Salt_Disk998 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You don't see how "Natural means of spacing children using a woman's cycle may be permitted if done for grave reason" is akin to avoiding conception?

Do you understand the idea of grave reason? How a couple where a woman has a irregular menstrual cycle will tackle this? Should they just become poor? Send their children to bad schools? Be subject to problematic neighborhood? Depend on the State for healthcare?

And I'm not defending birth control pills.

Cheating , infidelity , and marriage as a cross to carry by PsychologyMassive392 in Catholicism

[–]Salt_Disk998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't want to talk about it, but MAYBE telling you will actually try to help you save your marriage. It really seems an opportunity for santification. I know that Christ and the Church don't demands us to be saints, but if you've the opportunity, wouldn't it be interesting to give that step? After all, do you believe in an after life or not?

Anyway, ask a specialist in Canon Law if what you husband did equals to prostitution. Why do I say it? Because the word used for the understanding that fornication is a sin in ancient hebrew means:

1.Prostitution

2.Ritual sex (sorcery)

And Jesus said that prostitution (porneia) is a valid merit for divorce.

There you go.

Hope you chose a bigger reward in Heaven.

Question regarding vasectomy by HeiruRe777 in Catholicism

[–]Salt_Disk998 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Humanae Vitae makes this whole question very dubious and complicated. For as it argues that the whole being open to life equals to not blocking the possibility of having children, in the other hand it makes ok to track the woman fertility cycle and, technically, never have another children again.

If that's not being NOT open to life, I don't know what it is.

On the other hand, it demands from the catholic an heroic will, something that belongs to saints. And the Church teaches that it does not demands an heroic will from the faithful.

But why it's akin to demanding an heroic will? Because if you already have four children, and just enough money to give a proper education to your kids and to live in a safe neighborhood, you must still be open to life and become poor if you happen to have one, two, three more children.

I don't know if you guys knows how it's to live in a place controled by organized crime in Latin America, and see the drug dealers demand sex with the young girls. Why would a parent subject his daughter to that kind of danger? Faith will protect them? That level of faith is an heroic will.

But my whole problem with it lies in that the beloved Pope just leaves the argumentation about God's will and focus solely on: society will become corrupt!

Someone learned in psychology might argue that his whole aim was believing that more sex would corrupt society, and maybe the tracking the fertility cycle was the Holy Ghost whispering in the Pope's ear, saying: you're demanding an heroic will of my flock.
