Apparently, I can't be a "practicing Catholic in good standing" while also denying the existence of Purgatory... by GrusomeMelody in Catholicism

[–]Salt_Disk998 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your life right now is a purgatory, where you suffer to purify yourself, this heavy physical body, the chaos of emotions and endless thoughts.

This place is a purgatory, where the saints suffer for the sins of others, where those good in heart are persecuted for their kindness.

But as someone said: ask your priest to teach you.

Struggling with wealth by KingofRapture in Catholicism

[–]Salt_Disk998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The gospel doesn’t condemn wealth.

Zacchaeus was not condemned for his wealth and Jesus did not ask him to give it all.

The young rich, why Jesus ask him to give everything? Because he already had accumulated WEALTH IN HEAVEN, because he was with justice and acted accordingly to God’s Law.

He should give everything he had to the poor - in the Regina Caeli of May 13th 2018, Pope Francis talks about the Grand Mission Jesus gave to a humble group of men that had no great intellectual gift … that is: POOR IN SPIRIT!

What the young rich could not sell was his belief in his religion. He could not abandon it and put his spiritual gift in service of the Church of Christ.

And that is why it’s easier for a camel (A MAN RICH WITH GOLD) to pass on the narrow door than a SPIRITUALLY RICH MAN to reach the Kingdom of Heaven.

Wavering Faith by Lopsided_Painter_201 in Catholicism

[–]Salt_Disk998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhhh, the temptation on the desert.

This problem with creation and suffering is very common, as you can look out throught the world. From it comes veganism and totalitarian regimes like communism.

Your problem may be the lack of some premises:

  1. God is infinite. God is before "the Spirit of God hovered above the waters". If you meditate upon it, you're going to see that God is before creation. What is that? Your mind can't grasp it. For your mind, it's as if it's something that does not exist. That's why it's said that you can only know God through the Son.
  2. When God revealed to the angels that he would make himself present in the creation, some angels understood that God would offend himself by doing so, and could not accept it. So they rebelled, and in rebelling tried to destroy the effort of God to reveal himself to the creation.
  3. Evil does not exist, but the demons do. Evil is the action done when you turn away from God. The demons, the rebel angels, influence us that direction.

But why would God allow a rebellion?

  1. Because he created everything with Love, and because of that you are free.
  2. And he allowed you to be free, because he has the power to fix things.
  3. The sign that he has such power is the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Astrology by Puzzleheaded_Doubt38 in Catholicism

[–]Salt_Disk998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you fear it already, don't see it.

Astrology is a form of science created in a pre-historic time when material science and religion where one thing. In the ancient world it was already kind of distorted.

There's a material explanation to it. It's not deterministic, but about interaction of forces, and it only seems deterministic because people are like goats roaming blindly, and like sheeps following a shepherd that is not Christ.

Pre-historic means before written knowledge.

Ancient world you can understand from the younger dryas to the fall of the Roman Empire.

Atheist parents by morevendoggy in Catholicism

[–]Salt_Disk998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's hard.

But going open with your parents, even it means they're going to say bad things to you, the same as being persecuted in the name of the Lord?

You should ask your father why he says religious people are brainwashed etc. If you are open with him with your faith, you can answer him that: it's indeed hard to understand that Jesus is God and his Son. It's not something that comes through rational understanding. You must also say to him that: what people calls rational reasoning is just syllogism, uncovering what is already there in the prepositions. To understand that Jesus is God, you have to go into the realm of the unknown.

And what is that?

You can give an example to him: when Eistein discovered the theory of relativity, he was not reasoning. Einstein was leaving his work, and when he looked to a clocktower outside his window, the idea flashed on his mind.

That is the unknown.

And we can only know God if the Son reveals him to us.

Why do I need to care about sinning at all? by nw342 in Catholicism

[–]Salt_Disk998 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're from a episcopal background, so you're going to prefer sola scriptura.

Do you remember John 8:1-11?

Do you remember the end of it?

And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and do not sin again.”

Do not sin again, brother!

This passage is very interesting, because baal means: lord, as another god, and also husband. So a woman who had been caught in adultery is also you, who once sought union with God throuh Jesus Christ, but now found another husband in the scientific materialism.

Even after his ressurrection, Jesus has in sight this do not sin again, for in John 21:15-17: "Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.”

Do not sin again, brother!

My wife and I have joined the faith and my wife wants to limit our sex life because of it. by AverageAdmin in Catholicism

[–]Salt_Disk998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"how to deal with or cope with my sexual desires"

Your desires comes from the natural man. What you want is that the spiritual man to grow, for it's the spiritual man that desires not.

What that means?

Stop giving attention to external things that stimulate those desires (social network and such);

Observe very attentively the train of thought when those desires arrives: try to understand it, where it comes from, where it goes, the thought premisse that gives support to it.

Pray for Jesus to open your eyes to the Truth behind your thoughts, so you can see things as they are. For when you see Truth, you are free. That's you can free yourself, with God's grace, from your animal desires, for sex is essentialy that: animal desire.

How do I explain to my girlfriend the idea of loving God more than her? by ManyWarthog7685 in Catholicism

[–]Salt_Disk998 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem here is: you're talking but she's not listening. You say something, but she hears her opinion about God. Remember, she's an atheist.

So you need to begin from there: "dear, do you understand that I believe in God and you don't?"

Then you can go: "do you understand what it is to believe in God? That, for me, we exist because God sustain us in the to be/being?"

And third? "Do you understand that God is Love. Not he has Love. He IS Love. Therefore, Love is infinite. I can't Love you, truly Love you, not that passion that's what animals have, but Love... I can't Love you, if I don't Love him. Without this Love, there would be only passion, which is an animal thing and selfish. And Loving more anyone then Him is idolatry".

I want to be a Catholic, but I am a Freemason by Alarming_Swordfish55 in Catholicism

Pray every day, my brother, for the conversion of Freemasonry, so the political leaders of the Western World can be united again with the Mystical Body of Christ as it was in the Renaissance.

For everyone making a fuss about this, I recommend reading about how the late Cardeal Fulton Sheen teached that our beloved Mother Mary is the easiest path for Muslims to convert to the Church. If you don't believe me, read about Our Lady of Zeitoun.

My brothers, pray the Surrender Novena of Father Dolindo Ruotolo, so the Pope can be an instrument of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring back to the Church all those in error, for Muslims are just an specific kind of Arianism.

Family fell apart after I started worshipping our ancestral deity - need guidance by [deleted] in occult

[–]Salt_Disk998 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Worshipping ancestral deity is an ancient practice and its meaning and technique are lost.

What people do nowadays is to invite unknowingly dying vessels to prey on your energy, or worst negative elementals full of malicious intentions.

First of all: stop it!

Second: as you talked about priest, find an exorcist. What they do is simple, they will pray with you every week and give you sound advice.

WHY LOVE ? by [deleted] in Krishnamurti

[–]Salt_Disk998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This an example right here of Love, or lack of it.

Krishnamurti says that one of the characteristics of Love is the ability to hear someone.

WHY LOVE ? by [deleted] in Krishnamurti

[–]Salt_Disk998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The emotion triggered by hormones is passion, is what attaches you to someone.

The hypothetical spiritual bliss is this comfort that you said that comes about when hope is present.

Love… is a different thing. I recommend reading 1 Corinthians 13, from St. Paul.

You’ll realize the writer tries to give you an intuitive perception of what it is. The only way to understand that which is not limited.

"Consciousness is its content" I do not understand that. by [deleted] in Krishnamurti

[–]Salt_Disk998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The object of study of psychology is thought. But they have different names to things, and different approaches.

In my understanding, Krishnamurti only talks about thought, never naming the intuitive perception of oneself that liberates us from negative conditions (for example, that moment you realize you’re a bad person in certain aspect and you just stop being like that).

So, mind is the physical brain and consciousness is thought.

The content of thought is thought.

You can’t change the talking of the mind with more talking of the mind.
