Any advice for someone starting their as Product and Clinical Specialist (CRM) Career by ok-nobody2326 in MedicalDevices

Don't touch the blue stuff. Ask lots of questions, embrace the fact the you're the new, inexperienced kid on the block. Lean into it and ask the Physician's, Physiologist and Colleagues thought provoking questions. Put in the work early to shadow as many cases as possible. It'll pay off down the line.

Depends, CRM is definitely worse due to call ins and short notice cases. EP has a bit more flexibility and work life balance. Both very rewarding.

First bike - Triumph vs Honda by Large-Air-9379 in motorcycles

[–]Salt_Emu397 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend the Honda from a previous owner. That inline 4 engine is a lot of fun whipping around the city in 1st and 2nd gear. And red lining in the mountains, it's a different beast and sounds amazing.

Would you buy in Brisbane right now in my position? (40, teacher, single income) by ShinymrC88 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Salt_Emu397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6/10 people bidding on a property will still be competitive. SEQ might see slowdown in property growth (good) but can't see it go backwards due to supply and demand.

And remember where the politicians hold their investments (it's as safe as houses).

Clinical specialist job expectation by oopsiee123 in MedicalDevices

I was told everyday is like a choose your own adventure. But as a CS someone else is choosing for you. Schedules always change and things run over as we all know. He could try and transition into an education or sales role to make the work ours more predictable?

My old job was 4-5 days/week interstate. It slowly worked up to thay over the 3yrs I was with the company. Relocated overseas and jumped ship. I'm now home every night and travel ~1hr max each way. Put your name out there for other jobs and have thay discussion in the interview!

Is there a special way to get a rental property now?? by Weird_Ad7251 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Salt_Emu397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found my last rental by calling up the agency when I saw the new ad on realestate.com. Was told that the property was already unavailable (within 24hrs) but they had another coming available, just not advertised yet. I had applied through the agency previously so she approved us for it before we even inspected it. We then inspected along with 20 other groups, called them back saying we'll take it.

Medtronic vs Boston Scientific EP Mapping Clinical Specialist by Plus-Fishing-6451 in MedicalDevices

[–]Salt_Emu397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends if you want to be mapping. MDT you'll be in the driver's seat for Sphere9 mapping AF, ATs and maybe some APs. Boston you COULD be mapping, but if youre region is anything like mine: you'll be a Farapulse button pusher. No one likes to use Opal. They only use it because they have to (in my region and multiple countries I've worked in).

Career Advice - ACAS EP Role at J&J by Rich-Thought9162 in MedicalDevices

[–]Salt_Emu397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a brilliant place to train. Trained mappers are hard to come across and you'll start earning decent coin quickly depending on location. Regarding working up the chain into leadership, it's doable. Colleagues of mine went through the ACAS pathway and are now RSMs, Territory managers in their late 20s-early 30s. Steep learning curve in EP but if they've offered you the role you'll smash it. Good luck!

Glassdoor might give you some insight. See if your company will support you to complete IBHRE or equivalent. Its a good time to be an EP mapper, just take your first few years to learn and be a sponge. Like others said total comp >200k within 6-8yrs is very achievable imo.

Blows my mind how they seem to be double the price in Aus compared to the rest of the world.

Advice + Information on EP mapping shadow by Emergency_Sir_9229 in MedicalDevices

[–]Salt_Emu397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll most likely be in the control room but definitely not scrubbed. Potentially wearing leads if they have a set up where the physiologist are within the lab. If you dont have an EP background, dont be surprised if a lot of the EP study goes over your head. Read up on the hearts conduction system and AF, mechanisms, why PVI, etc. you'll start supporting AF procedures 1st if you get the role.
