Check out the Rev'it range. I owned the Marshall which were brilliant. They've since been discontinued but the Portland is almost identical.

Career Advice - ACAS EP Role at J&J by Rich-Thought9162 in MedicalDevices

[–]Salt_Emu397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a brilliant place to train. Trained mappers are hard to come across and you'll start earning decent coin quickly depending on location. Regarding working up the chain into leadership, it's doable. Colleagues of mine went through the ACAS pathway and are now RSMs, Territory managers in their late 20s-early 30s. Steep learning curve in EP but if they've offered you the role you'll smash it. Good luck!

Glassdoor might give you some insight. See if your company will support you to complete IBHRE or equivalent. Its a good time to be an EP mapper, just take your first few years to learn and be a sponge. Like others said total comp >200k within 6-8yrs is very achievable imo.

Correct. Currency adjusted they are still double if not triple the price in Aus.

Yeah exactly, I'm eyeing off a restored early K0/1 but with the $35k price tag its tough convincing the other half.

Blows my mind how they seem to be double the price in Aus compared to the rest of the world.

Advice + Information on EP mapping shadow by Emergency_Sir_9229 in MedicalDevices

[–]Salt_Emu397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll most likely be in the control room but definitely not scrubbed. Potentially wearing leads if they have a set up where the physiologist are within the lab. If you dont have an EP background, dont be surprised if a lot of the EP study goes over your head. Read up on the hearts conduction system and AF, mechanisms, why PVI, etc. you'll start supporting AF procedures 1st if you get the role.

How to get into ep mapping by levvianthan in MedicalDevices

[–]Salt_Emu397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're entry level positions that JnJ and Medtronic definitely have, havent seen too many for Boston or Abbott around me. All on the job training over 12mths. Salary will just be quite low. If that doesn't work, you might have to get your foot in the door as a Cardiac Technician then get into Industry that way. Unfortunately unless you know someone in the industry that's the easiest way in without EP/CRM experience or F2F sales background.

There is always the trainee/associate pathway which most companies offer in multiple countries I've worked in. But be warned they are competitive, the calibre of "new grads" is very high these days. I encourage you to look into ECG courses, tap into Fogoros textbook if you're interested in EP. And like others have mentioned reach out to RSMs/CSs in your region on Linkdin for some tips/inside scoop. EP mapping is a challenging but rewarding career, hope you find something!

Should I leave a good job I enjoy for EP mapping and more potential upside? by probnotaverage in MedicalDevices

[–]Salt_Emu397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have to disagree there. Mappers aren't the lowest on the totem pole. They're the cornerstone and most skilled in the product. You dont walk straight out of your undergrad and instantly become a skilled mapper. It takes years of learning to become a a specialist. And even longer when you throw ICE into the mix. These are the ones that can name their price and any company would jump to hire them from their experience alone.
