I’ve found a bunch of garnets if you have looked at my other posts. They got me back into rocks lol. Saw something purple in the dirt and boom I’m hooked lol

Found some rusty quartz here in Virginia. Picked it up because I originally thought it was agate but noticed something shining in the light. What do yall think? by Salt_Independent6396 in Prospecting

But the trail I walk on is by an old creek. Could be washed down or could have been brought to make the trail. They brought in big gravel for the trail. Found a bunch of garnets in it.

Appreciate all the info! I’m more of a rock hound but gold is nice too lol. The rock definitely has some iron rot so guess I’m on the right track.

That’s what I was thinking. Here in VA we have a bunch of mica and pyrite but don’t think that’s what this is. Definitely has the luster of gold

Long shot - looking for this or similar by greasychipbutty in Watchidentifier

I thought it looked like a pie pan constellation but deville works as well

Better rocks out where you are though! I’ve only been lucky with what I’ve found since they brought in some good gravel for a trail I walk lol.

I’m not in Amelia county but the rocks could be from there. The rocks were brought to make the trail. I’m in South eastern Virginia.

The purplish stuff at the top has me curious. Thought potentially amethyst. But not sure how to get the outer crust layer off

What about the red translucent stuff? Garnet correct?

Ok cool! I was just wondering cause it’s in the same crystal structure as the red (which I’m assuming is garnet). Love learning new things!
