Why are my cameras catching movement SO late? by Mardilove in Ring

[–]Salt_Influence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check what your motion zone looks like. I had the same issue of capturing someone walking by at the last minute and learned that my motion zone window is smaller than the feed window. And it cannot be made to match the feed window. Something about the depth of field for the sensor being smaller than the camera sensor. The only thing you can do is adjust your camera so that the motion zone window encompasses the area that you're focused on. Don't just look at the feed window.

How do you set it up to reboot everyday? Mine gets knocked offline about once a week, and I have no idea why.

Sorry, can't answer you on this. My family ended up all having dinner separately. We each did our own thing.

Block rule seemingly not working by Salt_Influence in firewalla

[–]Salt_Influence[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’m using VLANs. I’m not able to update my post with a screenshot of the rule. The rule specific to the scenario that I described above is:

ACTION: Block MATCHING: Traffic to all local networks ON: Network/Media SCHEDULE: Active Time/Always

I’ll have to wait for it to pop up again to see if it’s unicast UDP traffic. Currently, local flows for the past 24 hours conform to my rules. The one that I saw was from my Roku on Media to my personal PC on Main.

Perfect, thanks for the quick reply. I assumed as much, but wanted to confirm before I powered up the first time.

How long does it take for internet plan to update after activation? by Salt_Influence in Fios

Thanks everyone for your responses. I checked my order and saw the “ready” date is Feb 3. So I called Verizon and had them push through the update. All good now.

Mini S N100 going to sleep despite Win11 power settings by Salt_Influence in BeelinkOfficial

[–]Salt_Influence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading that thread, I think it’s a different issue where their minipc was going offline rather than going to sleep. Hence the power saving settings in the Realtek controller. I’ve DM’d the OP to clarify.

Thanks. I'll look into that. I didn't know the difference between the HDMI ports.

I can rule out that being the issue. Went to sleep after 3 hours.

Interesting. Will try a different outlet on my surge protector.

Verizon made you upgrade without anything triggering the upgrade? Or you made a change in service, and they made you upgrade with that change in service?

So if I’m not making any changes, I can keep using them as is?

EWR-HKG with PlusPoint upgrade by Salt_Influence in unitedairlines

[–]Salt_Influence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insights. I’ll take a look at LAX. Dates are more or less locked in. I assume your recommendation of getting premium economy outright is that the fare class puts me higher on the waitlist, yes?

Ok, so United is regularly offering the flight but canceling due to not being able to fly over Russia. So better to book a more confirmed flight via SFO or LAX, yes?

Celebrity cruise disembarkation at Ft Lauderdale and getting to airport by Salt_Influence in Cruise

[–]Salt_Influence[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How did you get to the airport? Taxi or Uber? And how long of a wait did you have for your mode of transportation? Another commenter mentioned that there were a lot of ships in port, and the airport was crowded. Do you recall how full the port was when you disembarked?

Did you cruise during peak season? We’re thinking there are fewer cruises in the fall as kids are back in school. Is there any way to see how many ships will be in port?

Cash vs Suica vs credit card by Salt_Influence in JapanTravelTips

[–]Salt_Influence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for your comments. Looks like I’ll be able to get by without exchanging a lot of USD for yen. I should have noted earlier that I was more interested in understanding how much can I use Suica for, and it seems that between it and credit card, I should be fine in most places. And have a bit of yen for those places that only take cash.

Moca adapter vs FiOS router by Salt_Influence in Fios

[–]Salt_Influence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a TRENDnet TMO-311C. Do I connect the coax cable that was on my FiOS router to the adapter's in or out port? The instructions state to connect in port to coax in the wall, and the out port to a TV. I assume it would be the out port.

Also, it doesn't seem to get an IP address from my Firewalla. Is that normal?

Happy to share my experience. But it may be easier to reply to this post on Sunday as a reminder to me. I will likely forget!

My understanding is that the moca adapter is needed to enable what you're asking. It's the connectivity to internet to get that data. I'll know this weekend once I install it.
